Anyone at peace with whatever happens yet?
@IBsleeping I’m just assuming you’re getting in, your EC’s are just too OP, mine are like: Can make Minute rice in 50 seconds, once participated in a 32 legged race, can eat an entire pizza in one sitting, etc.
@vcq7890 trying to be !
@vcq7890 I like to believe I’m at peace but I know I’ve just falsely convinced myself and will be a mess either way.
yeah @IBsleeping I really don’t want to give anyone false hope, but your EC’s are insane, and your GPA can’t be that bad. So yeah if you don’t get in, then I definitely don’t deserve to get in lol
@MDS049 When was the original email sent, what date? If it sat in your inbox or junk box for a couple weeks and you didn’t respond, they could file a report that says “reached out but didn’t respond.” Having said that, the lack of getting together with the alum has almost no impact on your application. There’s been a lot of chatter on this thread about that and most seem to agree that it won’t affect you. It really wasn’t an interview, it was more of a personal info session anyway. Don’t worry about it.
Just one more thing everyone. Everyone here in this chat has so much going for them! Everyone is so talented and an awesome candidate for this school. Cornell cannot accept everyone, therefore, not everyone will be receiving an acceptance letter on Thursday. If anyone receives a rejection, I want you to remember: rejection does not diminish any work that you have done. Do NOT be depressed. If you are feeling down, just remember that you were competitive for Cornell, something that only top students in the country can say! Do learn that everyone that falls will rise. Not to belittle Cornell whatsoever, but there are so many great schools out there nowadays. Some people on this chat are incredibly competitive for the top schools in the country. Do not let ONE school’s rejection deter yourselves from being the strong and intelligent person you are, but rather strength yourselves. Everyone here is so special, I love you all.
@CORNyshELL i’m applying to CALS as environmental engineering
Are there any stories of people who were completely shocked after they got accepted to ED Cornell? I don’t mean the typical Asian who worries and freaks out despite their 2400 and curing canceresque achievements. I mean people like me: good student with 33 ACT decent GPA, but no EC’s out of the ordinary. Have there been stories of people like me getting in? If you have seen situations like this in previous years threads, please share so I can unnecessarily get my hopes up lol. Preferably people getting in to Human Ecology
I cannot believe we find out results in less than 2 days!! Good luck everyone! @-)
@vcq7890 you do realize your act is higher than the average and if GPA and EC are average you stand a chance, plenty of people like you get in. I know in 2020 I even saw a few sub 2000 SATs with no major ECs or hooks get in— but there were also 2400s with lots of ECs who got rejected/deferred. It’s all up to luck at this point, whoever got their attention somehow, all we can do now is hope
@shep888 I got bored and calculated, every 21 minutes and 13 seconds is 1% of the time until we get decisions
LOL @Shrilkshire Time is passing SO slowly I have zero work
@Shrilkshire thanks for your input. I hope my stats and sibling legacy push me through, but for some reason i doubt it will. I’m strongly sensing a deferral. Anyways is anyone here getting these random thoughts of how awesome the rest of senior year would be if we get in? I mean you can literally do anything you want. Spend more time on EC’s your passionate about, work out, spend more time playing sports, binge-watching TV… Thursday will either be the greatest day of my life so far or one of the worst.
I’m going to be finding out right at the end of class, and advice for not making a scene (good or bad) in front of my classmates?
Hey guys, coming in here to wish you all luck! Don’t be deterred if you don’t get in right away; I had to wait until mid May to hear I got in off the waitlist! I still remember the stress about worrying about the result. Try to relax and distract yourself with anything but College Confidential. Honestly, you all are probably very qualified individuals, so good luck! You’ll end up where you are supposed to be
Guys! Everyone’s stressed and freaking out (I know I am), but just remember, the college you go to does NOT by any means define your worth as a person. I know not everyone’s going to get accepted and rejection will hurt. But, we need to carry on past failure, past stress, past defeat. No matter what happens, we’ll be okay.
If only I could convince myself …
Breathes in a paper bag.
@oliconlon I’m also going to be finding out at the end of class (I’m from california) anyone have advice?
Why not just wait till you get home? I would suggest checking in a private setting, unless your comfortable with either decision’s reaction being seen by others. I know I’ll be checking when I’m alone at home, though not sure if this is a good decision. Either I’ll set the house on fire out of joy or fall into eternal depression, absent-mindedly binge-watching show after show…
@IBsleeping which school did you apply to? sorry if you already said it earlier
