Hey, I’m also an international ED applicant for Cornell. I’m planning on applying to CoE, majoring in computer and electrical engineering. My SAT score is 1420(780+640E), I have a 760 in SAT Chem, 800 in SAT Math II and I gave physics yesterday.

I’d like to ask about CALS/CAS.
I’m definitely applying early but am conflicted as to which school I should apply to.
I am more interested in majoring in biology but I have done more research in organic chemistry and thus have a background in this.
I was leaning towards CALS because I am a NYS resident, and would apply for the biological sciences major, but I would not be able to give a concrete reason as to why I like the biological sciences.
This makes me feel like I would be a better fit for CAS since they offer a chem major, but I am still very unsure.

I would recommend you to apply for CAS. It gives you more solid courses preparation. Besides, a Chem degree can make you go almost everywhere and any other fields if you want to swtich.
My son submitted his Common App to Cornell but the Common App Counselor section is showing “School Report Downloaded” but no status on"Counselor Recommendation". He has checked with his counselor and the counselor confirmed she has submitted all information including Counselor Recommendation thru Naviance. Cornell Application Status is also showing no Counselor Recommendation received (no green check mark). Does anyone here encounter the same problem like this? Any suggestion on how to get this problem resolved? Thank you.
@VALT2222 my high school’s naviance has similar issues, one of my friends’ teachers emailed her a week ago that she submitted her recommendation through naviance but it still has not shown as submitted for my friend. Our registrar said that naviance has been having problems lately so to give it time, but she had no way of checking whether the recommendation was sent or not. Hopefully it is just taking time to process and show up.
Last year, my son’s high school’s naviance program had a glitch whenever a student had to send 2 transcripts to a school. Only 1 of them was getting sent. FYI if you have earned college credits and want to send that transcript along with your high school transcript. Something to be on the look out for.
I assume the counselor’s recommendation is part of the School Report but I could be wrong. The Naviance is showing "Initial materials submitted’ for Cornell. However, Cornell application status is showing both School Report and Transcript received but not for Counselor Recommendation. I guess there is no way to find out what happened until Cornell sends out the email in November if something is still missing.
@VALT2222 I haven’t submitted my application yet so I’m not sure. My naviance says “initial materials submitted” under office status, but I haven’t met with my counselor yet so I don’t think he has submitted my rec. Luckily, colleges normally don’t penalize you or look down upon your application if materials are late, as long as they are materials the school is responsible for sending, like recommendations, not your personal application.
@VALT2222 Actually, you may be correct and the rec might be part of the Initial Materials. I just checked my common app, where I added my counselor, and it says he submitted materials last week. If your son used common app maybe he should check on the “recommenders” page to see if it confirms that the recommendation has been received, if he can still access it.
@hleeigh Thank you for your reply. My son’s common app is showing “School Report Downloaded 10/07/2016” but nothing showing up (blank) after “Counselor Recommendation”.
