Hello
I was a bit curious about Cornell’s policies for students who were admitted ED. Are first semester grades looked at the same as second semester grades for accepted RD students? Balancing sports, clubs, college applications, and 5 AP classes took its toll on my grades. I went from straight A’s to 1-2 B’s (1 will definitely be a B) and a C in AP Calc. My semester doesn’t end until after break (Finals are after break), but i’m wondering if this will have any impact on my acceptance since it is in the first semester. It is a considerable drop in grades.
@Hixons You definitely don’t want that trend to continue but a couple of Bs and even a C won’t kill you. At worst they may send a letter asking you to explain the reasons behind your decline ( I read that in an interview one time), but that’s unlikely after your first semester. But let’s be honest, you are probably like me and have senioritis. It’s really hard to keep focusing knowing I already have my college choice finalized. But be careful you don’t have a nosedive in all of your classes. If you typically have straight seven As and suddenly have one A, four Bs and two Cs your senior year, it will raise a red flag, but still probably won’t result in a rescind letter. A few B and C blips are not unusual. Getting a D or F is catastrophic however.
