@Mastodon97 Yeah you have to be accepted, congrats man. I wonder if your the start to a streak of calls from Ian or the ILR office, or you’re a one off case. You still don’t have a PIN i’m guessing?
Thanks guys, hopefully y’all are right! @hdaviirus And no I still don’t have my pin, maybe it will show up after midnight tonight.
@Mastodon97 Hmm, interesting, yeah let us know after midnight if you get it. Congrats once again!
What was kinda funny was that the caller was trying to sound as ambiguous as possible and not use any emotion in his voice. I don’t really know what signal that gives off…Maybe he just didn’t want to tell my decision in a voicemail.
Update, I didn’t get GT, I don’t think - I received a packet in the mail today offering to work with me as a “Transfer Option.” It said I had to maintain a 3.5 with As and B+s and outlined a bunch of courses I would need to take this fall (Calculus, a Lab Science, some design courses) to ensure I came into the Spring 2018 semester on-track with the non-transfer students. I applied as a Design & Environmental Analysis major at the College of Human Ecology and it said I would also have to re-submit a new design supplement. Also, as an aside, the letter mentioned that only 172 of 2100 applicants (both freshman and transfer) to HumEc received this option to date.
All of this scares me, though. It doesn’t seem to guarantee anything - it just said that TOs have “special priority and preference” in the transfer application process. Is that just speaking generally - like, would it be GT if I keep up the GPA with the courses they mentioned? It also said that I would be required to live on campus for 6 semesters, which would have me graduating a semester late. Does anyone know any stats about whether TOs are essentially guaranteed admission if they fulfill all these requirements? I don’t want to have to take all these classes outside my major at my current school just to get rejected. I’m almost more stressed now that I have word from them than I was before

@Mastodon97 I mean what else could it be, they have all of your materials, and they would never call to reject somebody, and it is prob a waste of time to make a call just to tell somebody that a decision is coming soon.
@Mastodon97 Around when did you have your application sent in for review?
@ruby21 Is there a specific deadline to accept or reject this offer they have given you? If you have time to decide, what I would do is call them up in a few weeks- after a good majority of these transfer decision are out and coming to an end- and discuss what this means for you/how this process works. The only reason I wouldn’t call them at this very moment is because they are probably swamped with frantic transfer students reaching out to them about their decisions. Give it some time so they can give you a clear and fair answer. Good luck!
@terr24lr yeah, it just said to mail the form back within two weeks. It basically just has you fill out whether or not you’re accepting the offer and where you intend to be for the Fall semester/what your major will be there. I can’t fill it out for a few days anyway, as I hear back from most of my other schools May 1st
Hey fellow transfer hopefuls – I have a question regarding transferring in general. Do you think that admissions only sends accepted students’ applications (before the student is even notified of a decision) to financial aid? I’m curious because I spoke on the phone with someone in the financial aid office at Kenyon College where she informed me that myyyyyy “FA officer” was requesting more forms from me, which were not originally required. Does it sound like I’ve been accepted since I now have a financial aid officer? Or do you think that FA reviews all students’ applications regardless. I KNOW THIS IS THE CORNELL TRANSFER PAGE AND I HAVE APPLIED TO CORNELL AS A TRANSFER AS WELL JUST WANT SOME INSIGHT FROM Y’ALL

Some people didn’t post their stats.
I also want to add what I know about IBD recruiting, since like 75% of the applicants I looked up for ILR seem to have mentioned it on cc. IB recruiting is school wide for Cornell, and you are apparently not disadvantaged at all by being in ILR (Ian mentioned that plenty of people go into the “junior investment banking analyst roles” in his video). While I think most people from ILR that go into IB end up at BBs, EBs and even PE/Credit/Real Estate PE roles out of undergrad are possible. Take everything I say with a grain of salt though, since I obviously don’t go here.
Also just wanted to add this gem: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/internships-careers-employment/1702610-is-it-possible-to-become-an-investment-banker-without-going-to-a-high-end-school.html
@Mastodon97 definitely has a thread on Wall Street Oasis somewhere with a title like HS senior interest in career in investment banking
@ruby21 that’s what a GT is. It’s not even called a guaranteed transfer by them, but a transfer option. It sounds like you got what every other GT gets.
@ILRTransfer3 OMG I remember that article, lol that was so far back, and that might all change tomorrow. I actually have only 1 article on WSO, but that is something more current about my transfer options (Vanderbilt vs Cornell ILR).
@jhong0811 My app was sent for review on April 12th.
@ILRTransfer3 I’m actually curious about your thoughts on that, what do you think is better for IB, Vanderbilt or Cornell ILR? I posted on WSO but I got really ambiguous answers which said one was better than the other.
@jojowetzz No, it does not mean that you have been accepted. Admissions office and Financial Aid Office does not have anything to do with each other when they are deciding on your app. I’ve been asked by every single college I’ve applied to provide more financial application forms, some even asking before my app went into review.
@Mastodon97 I don’t understand their application review process, mine was sent over two weeks earlier… hmm. I wish they were more transparent.
@InfoSci okay, great! Thanks so much for clarifying
