Cornell Fall 2017 Transfer

@Mastodon97 thanks! I guess I might get my decision soon, since it was sent in on the 14th.

Ok, now that I reviewed the voice mail, I’m starting to get worried, I might be over analyzing but he said “where things stand on your application”. And he reaalllly didn’t sound happy about it :frowning: Has any other ILR applicant heard anything?

Has anybody contacted the engineering office to see where they are along the process?

So no one else has received a phone call? Now I’m starting to get suspicious because there should have been at least one other ILR applicant that received a phone call…

@Mastodon97 try to relax!! Maybe go to bed early tonight and just call in the morning. It can’t be bad. Either an acceptance or that they need more info on something
Good luck!

I wish you best of luck @Mastodon97 , I appreciate your time and effort in this thread. You seem really devoted to the school and it’d be nice if they see that too. Please keep us updated!

@Mastodon97 Did you end up getting a PIN? And once again, I’m guessing its because you have been actively engaged with the ILR office.

And I just tried again, still could not get a PIN. Somebody said most ILR decisions by today so… Either I am not in the “most” which is weird because my app was submitted for review about a month ago, or they are not coming out today.

@MysteriousDude Thanks, and I’ll definitely keep you guys informed.

@hdaviirus I still haven’t gotten my pin : /

@Mastodon97 Weird, well good luck, let us know tomorrow what happens.

Now that I look back through it, I have over 40 emails with Ian going back almost a year, so i guess it would be reasonable to call me? Still, his tone kind of threw me off. I’m gonna find out at 9am cst tomorrow I guess…

@Mastodon97 What school do you go to now?

Also, is there an admitted students thread for cornell?

@verizonwireless DePaul University in Chicago : / And no there is not thread for admitted students I’m aware of.

@Mastodon97 Is Depaul the Catholic school that banned Milo, and Ben Shapiro? And why are you pursuing a transfer? Does the ILR program really appeal to you?

Also, more generic question, when do we hear back from housing?

@verizonwireless The one and the same. Fun fact I was part of the committee that invited them both :slight_smile: I definitely don’t agree with all of their views (most of us didn’t, I’m more of a libertarian anyways), especially Milo’s, but we thought that it would be a good symbol to stand up for free speech and thought. Based on that you can probably guess why I’m transferring. The ILR program is extremely appealing to me, its basically all the subjects I care about out into one (Econ, History, Law, Public Policy).

a

@Mastodon97 Sure, suggesting that molestation is acceptable and that women aren’t fit for STEM majors is an exercise of free speech, but my protesting his suggestions is also my right. No one wants to take his ability to say that stupid crap away; we want to make it clear that what he is saying is unacceptable, and that we won’t sit idly and let that way of thinking become the status quo. He can say what he wants, but I for da mn sure will not allow for his words to translate into policy.

You should not have invited him. Your doing so implicitly endorsed his views about women, minorities, rape culture, molestation, etc. Milo crosses a line. Invite someone like Tomi Lahren, Kelly Anne Conway, Ben Carson, or Paul Ryan. Inviting Milo is not something to be proud of.

@Mastodon97 40 emails??? Wow… okay this makes a lot of sense now, sounds like you have a very good relationship with Ian lol, I would be extremely surprised if you did not get in.

@lexluther96

Wasn’t addressed to me, but I’ll answer anyway, given that I’m a huge Milo fan…

Milo doesn’t believe any of that… All that he believes is that a woman shouldn’t be given priority, which they unequivocally are, in STEM.

If you’re a woman, and you’re performing at a level lower than a man is, you shouldn’t be accepted while the man is rejected. Moreover, white women are the largest recipients of Affirmative action… He opposes that.

Also, regarding rape culture, lying about being raped doesn’t give you the patina of virtue. Emma Sulkowicz, Duke Lacrosse, UVA… were all hoaxes. These 3 cases also received countless hours of coverage. They were also the progenitors of “rape culture”. Rape is a heinous and vile crime… we should speak out about it, not pretend that college campuses are as dangerous for women as the congo is.

RE the molestation, that was despicable and inexcusable. He was a victim of child abuse, he apologized, we should accept it.
