Cornell Fall 2017 Transfer

@MysteriousDude I hope we get our pin today too! Mine has been in review for 3 weeks too. They said that decisions would come out this tuesday and next. The waiting game…

@yassgirl @MysteriousDude I don’t have a pin either and id say mines been in review for about 3 weeks as well

@packman012 Could we possibly get our pins at 10am (EST time) then?

@yassgirl i honestly have no idea

@packman012 I’m hoping for the best for all of us!

Agreed :slight_smile: Although if you didn’t send in the midterm reports, are they gonna hold that against you? I’m an incoming junior btw

@daCooliest What system is your college on? (quarter, trimester?)

@yassgirl I’m on semester system. I attend a public state university

@daCooliest - Given that it was a required part of the application I’d assume it would put you at a disadvantage. I think you should definitely address it with them. Also, they sent your application for review without having the midterm report? If that’s the case it would be pretty strange. I think they were supposed to contact you if you were missing anything in mid-late April.

lol yeah… @CorTransCHE

@daCooliest …yeah I’d definitely look into that

@daCooliest My school is on a quarter system, so I made a note on my mid-term report that my latest grades would be reflected on my transcript. They need to know your latest grades, for them to be able to make a final decision. The best response I’ve seen for this question has been this:

"Before making a final decision on your application for admission, we want to know about your current performance in all courses you are taking in the term immediately before you plan to enroll at Cornell.

If formal mid-term grades are given, please wait until those grades are available and then send us the report with your grade information. If no formal mid-term grades are given, please print the form and carry it to each professor, asking for your current grade in the class to be recorded.

For applicants on the quarter-system, please submit the mid-term report with a note that the winter quarter just concluded and those grades are reported on your most current transcript."

  • I found this on the Cornell FAQ for 2017 Transfers

https://blogs.cornell.edu/admissions/2017/03/09/2017-transfer-faqs/

Hope this helps! Good luck :slight_smile:

Note: Even though I sent my mid-term report, it was also never checked off but my application was sent for review! My latest grades were sent in the college transcript though. I feel like they may have received it but never checked it off? There is other people who mentioned this, and I don’t think we would just get their application sent to review without them actually having it. I wonder if there’s maybe some technical issues?

@jewishkidaz Judging by your username, you’re Jewish, therefore you would be the furthest thing from a diversity applicant. Moreover, at Cornell, you will be competing against students from the finance major, the business school, and the econ major.

Wouldn’t it be beneficial for you to go somewhere that isn’t so gravitated towards wall st, say, Rice or one of the other T20 schools, and then you can stand out when applying for jobs?

Also, you’re not going to be a big fish in a small pond at Syracuse, others there are hunting for Wall st jobs (my friend goes there, he’s majoring in econ, wants to work on the street).

@verizonwireless that is some really thinly veiled anti-semitism… LGBT is without a doubt diversity for the street, doesn’t matter whether or not your Jewish

Recruiting for the street isn’t just based on the US news rankings. Example: The Kelley School of Business at IU Bloomington has stronger placement than Northwestern, which is known more for sending students into consulting. Stern probably places better than most ivies. If he went to Rice, his opportunities would be much more limited (and a lot more geared towards energy banking in Houston/Dallas). The tradeoff for being able to stand out is usually less job opportunities.

Having one anecdotal friend that wants to work on the street doesn’t change the overall comparison between the student body at Cornell vs the one at Syracuse.

The PIN trick is working this morning, I will get my decision tomorrow at 10AM.

As an ILR applicant has not received a call from Ian/Olivia, the odd is against me…

CAS applicant still no PIN

(duplicate)

I’m also a CAS applicant and haven’t received my pin yet. I was hoping I’d get my decision this week. My app has been in review for over 3 weeks.

@iluvrunning same, GG

I finally got my PIN too (ILR), but Olivia called me and said I was accepted so this decision will only be about my financial aid.
