Cornell Fall 2017 Transfer

Rejected CAS

@marvin11 I think they will be coming in next Tuesday and the following (May 16th). From past trends, the first week of May has many rejections, the second week has acceptances but still more rejections. It seems that most acceptances came in the 3rd week (May 16th this year). This seems to vary by college too. I’m not sure if CAS will be different. From last year’s tread, some people stopped responding about their decisions for the 3rd week but the other colleges had many acceptances. So we aren’t able to get an accurate answer of how the decisions were made. So maybe the later we hear back, the better? This is just all theory, so let’s just hope for the best for all of us!

I have 3 friends who transferred to Cornell last year. 2 as sophomores and 1 as a junior. They all heard back Mid-May and were accepted by 3 different schools. Im intrigued to see if there really are trends here.

I think people who get their results early either have outstanding applications or are definitely rejected. For the rest applicants, the admissions people probably won’t be able to decide until they’ve reviewed a certain amount of applications, which makes the decisions come out late. And it’s easier to reject than admit an applicant, so maybe this is why people who receive their decisions late tend to be more likely to be accepted?

Accepted- Engineering EAS

Any ILR applicants still waiting to hear back? Still no pin:(

@VOGK8X Haven’t heard anything from SHA yet. Seems like the majority on here are CAS

Accepted - AEM. I received my pin at about 7:00 am Pacific

they emailed me saying the decision will be released after May 15 for me

Can someone please re-explain what the PIN trick is with specific directions?

@kp83 do you mind posting your stats please

@Transfer2142 yeah no worries

High School was terrible, but I graduated in 2004, so it didn’t mean that much I’m assuming
Community College in CA - 3.78 with 62 credits. (Finishing my AA this term)
Was in the Marines for five years
Good LOR’s
Don’t really have much EC’s because I work about 60 hours a week.

If there is anything else you want to know just ask

My mistake- that portal was for uploading course materials as part of the application. I see that each college within Cornell handles evaluating transfer courses differently. CAS supplies the form and the requirements right on their site at as.cornell.edu/transferring-credits.
CALS has the registrar evaluate courses needed for ‘graduation requirements’ and faculty evaluate those required for the major. For Engineering, it says that the undergraduate Major representative in the student’s intended Major of study evaluates and decides. ILR says if you wish to have your courses evaluated for transfer credit, please email a list of the titles, course descriptions, and grades to our Associate Director, Ian Schachner, at ims25@cornell.edu

@kp83 do you know what in AEM you wanna concentrate in?

Can any one who has already paid their deposit give me some insight on how long it takes to get your NetID after?

I got mine 2 days later @ballislife98

@ballislife98 I wanna do finance

Question: How can we know that our applications are sent for review?
Cornell replied my email on April 11th, informing that they have located the last missing items? Does it mean April 11th is the day when my app was sent for review?
Many THX!

@nswxin1 It won’t let you know on the portal. Many people know because they checked everyday and saw when at the bottom of the page it said: “Your materials have been received. Your application has been forwarded to the admissions staff for review.”

Thank you very much!
