Question for those who’s app was sent for review…was it sent for review right after your last material was checked off? Or did it take a couple days?
@Mastodon97 mine was sent for review after a couple days my materials were checked off.
@taryn97 Crap, that’s no good for me. Cornell has got to have the worst applicant material system
@Mastodon97 why say that? is there sth wrong with your application?
@taryn97 Yeah I still need something checked off, which means that after that happens its gonna take a few more days until they actually review it (and its almost mid-April, when they said they were going to release decisions). I’ve applied to other colleges and it hasn’t taken nearly as long as Cornell. Idk maybe its not their fault
Anyone thinks that next week is going to be a rejection week?
@Tilltheend Why would next week be rejection week? For my school I’m applying to at Cornell, they haven’t even released decisions yet for non-guaranteed transfers. Usually the first wave its a mix of acceptances and rejections. According to past year’s threads, once you get into May you usually have a higher chance of getting rejected.
@Mastodon97 ,I am not sure, because I know that majority of admissions roll out the first week after mid-April. According to the admission officer I talked to, she said it’s always better to hear late,so you should still be fine. My checklist was completed a long time ago and I don’t think it’s a good sign
I am also kind of confused by the idea of rolling admission, because there are only so much spots and as they get filled up, would people get reviewed later have a smaller chance?
@Tilltheend Lol, I wouldn’t worry about something like that, at least they have your app completed. I really don’t think the timing of when your app goes into review is a big indicator of an acceptance or a rejection (unless your app goes into review like late-May, which I don’t think will happen to anyone).
I don’t know about other school, but for engineering admission, it’s a two-stage process and I am pretty sure that 70 percent of the applications get filtered during the first stage, and only a small amount was sent to faculty to review
@Tilltheend Interesting! I am applying CoE as well. Do you know what kind of people most likely were filtered before?
I don’t think they’ll start sending decisions, until at least the 18th and the proceeding week. I think this because April 15th is the deadline for supplemental materials. They are probably waiting until that day for everyone to have everything in to start making decisions.
@Mastodon97 Some say that you will have higher chance of getting accepted if you get into May…
My checklist was completed on April 6 but I haven’t seen the sent for review box on the portal. Should I be worried?
@uhbygv , for example, people who did not have their pre-req courses completed or a very low GPA. But don’t quote me on this, because I have seen people with a 3.0 got in. It all really depends on each year’s applicant pool and a bit of personal luck.
@ninepm Where have you heard that? I’ve heard that the ones admitted in May are those who were on the borderline between acceptance and rejection, in other words just making it. The ones hearing in April are either extremely qualified or under-qualified. That’s why it’s better to hear in May– it shows that you stood a shot.
@ILRie18 I have seen it in previous threads.
I think you guys are overthinking this. First, its going to vary based on school. Cornell also has a truly rolling basis, so as soon as they’ve made their decisions they are releasing them that week(at least for ILR I know that’s true). Its released every Tuesday and Friday if I’m not mistaken. I’ve seen people get accepted and rejected in mid-April and I’ve seen the same in late-May as well.
I submitted my supplement 12:01pm 3/16 because I did not realize that there was a separate submission for the writing supplement until I was double checking. When I download the pdf for my writing supplement, it just shows the date (3/16) and not the time at the top.
Will this disqualify my app or make it disadvantageous? I know it was dumb of me to not make sure earlier.
