Cornell Fall 2017 Transfer

I know it is my personal opinion and I know there are many academic oriented students here. NYU is a good school but it is really not worth 75k+ for someone who is not going to Stern or Tisch. I am going to Stern but I hate living in NYC, which is the reason that I didn’t apply to Columbia. Also why would I want to major in public policy or labor relations at NYU: It is known for business and art. I don’t understand how you guys think going to NYU is a good “deal.” Top 15 (65k+) >>>>>>>> NYU, which is Top 40 for undergrad (75k+). When you go to a school, you don’t just look for something as abstract as fit: you look whether it is a good investment and what kind of education you will receive. Vanderbilt and Cornell are just much better “deal”.

I don’t really want to talk about NYU anymore: it is my personal decision.

@panicattheapp
Yeah, sorry, I’ll stop with the NYU talk, I just felt like it needed to be addressed.

So has any non GT for CAS heard back yet?

Any CALS applicant received decisions?

also-has anyone heard from human ecology?

@doctork ahhh thank goodness, i thought it was just me! do you know if when we applied (like how early before the deadline) matters?

CALS released the first wave of decisions on Tuesday. Nobody on this thread has seen a change to transeval or gotten a decision (right?), but there are <10 of us out of a pool of probably 300-400 applicants.

@ninepm I haven’t received the decision. I’m a CALS applicant.

CALS applicant who also hasn’t received it.

@transfer2020 idk if it does… I think only the sent to review matters…

@Ishouldliveinslt Looking at the GT thread, it looks like some GTs have been accepted into CALS.

what the heck I feel like no one has gotten in…when are we all finding out? :slight_smile:

@financeguyjames I mean for SHA, they told me its probably going to start next week and continue into May, but then again it’s probably the same for people in other schools. I noticed that others had acceptances in previous threads on various days of the week, but it seems like they are only doing Tuesdays this year?

I didn’t realize that my application fee waiver didn’t go through so I submitted it just now… I probably won’t be admitted since they probably would just start looking at my application eh?

@weirdfishes95 Why did you wait so long to check the portal?

@HopefulCollege95 just curious what major did you apply for

Hey guys! New here. Although I am going to make the decision myself, I dont know a better place to find a group of students who are in the same boat as me and I would appreciate your input. Cornell vs Vanderbilt to transfer to for econ. Thats what I am wrestling with here. I am from the south, I love the south and the feel of Vanderbilt. At the same time, I have never lived in the northeast and am all about new experiences. I have not visited cornells campus. Two major concerns with Cornell: liberal and cold. Are these legitimate concerns for y’all? (If you are not conservative, empathize with my worry a bit). Objectively and devoid of all else, I want to know which (if either) will position me to go to grad school at Stanford (my dream school). Been accepted to a few schools for transfer (including vandy) now, but these are the two it will come down to.

@weirdfishes95 please tell me that is a radiohead reference. and @InfoSci I think then that it’s reasonable to assume that only GTs have been accepted into CALS thus far.

@Ishouldliveinslt @InfoSci have any of the CALS students had updates to their transeval page with their major???
I haven’t yet had that. >.<
