@ballislife98 what is public ivy?
Do you guys think the reputation of my current school matters? I just transferred from NYU art&sciences to Stern Business school. I hope it can help me. Also I am applying to ILR.
@ILR2020 - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Public_Ivy
sorry it sounds pretentious I didn’t want to specify yet still give a good guess of what school I am at (it is an original public ivy)
Wow, you go to a really good school.
@ballislife98 I watched the live blog, I received an email about it. I know that they look at the midterm report, I was just wondering if the reasons are simply because they want more grades or not.
@Mastodon97 do you mean the live webcast?
I think mid term matters more for sophomore transfers. Still, I don’t think it matter that much because those grades are unofficial and grades can change dramatically by the end of semester. Last semester, I had all Bs during mid term but ended up with all As.
@ILR2020 not as good as ILR ◡̈
and yeah i think we are referring to the webcast.
@Mastodon97 - who sent the email?
@Mastodon97 Yeah lol, thats what I meant, it was pretty informative and its still up.
@ballislife98 Wow, I just checked it right now and it was Ian himself who sent it to me Guess we’re on good terms.
So is everyone here applying to ILR lol?
Junior ILR transfer applicant here, from a community college on the west coast. You guys have any idea of what the transfer stats to ILR last year were? I’ve heard ILR is the most transfer friendly school at Cornell, but they place heavy emphasis on “fit”-hence your essays.
@genieforuboi Thats about right. Stats from 2011 show 44% for ILR, but keep in mind that includes Guaranteed Tranfser, its more probably around 30%.
Check it out here: https://dpb.cornell.edu/documents/1000156.pdf
@Mastodon97 do you have any idea how much the midterm grade report matters for junior transfers. I have an overall 4.0 right now from my previous three semesters (over 60 units completed). I’m taking 3 classes this spring, but I’m still a full time student due to the unit count. My midterm grades will probably be 2 A’s and 1 B. You think that B will matter much?
@genieforuboi No, not at all. I’ve spoken a lot with Ian (admissions director of ILR) and he has stated that they only really care about grades for ILR-relevant classes. Besides, even if you got that B for an ILR pre-requisitie they’re definitely going to see that you have had a all As for three semesters are gonna put much more emphasis on that.
has anyone had their either the high school transcript/college transcript/mid term report/college report checked off on their portal thing? i had all mine sent back in Feb and they still haven’t been checked off
@litlhoward2468 same, I sent it almost 3 weeks ago and it’s not checked. I think it’s fine, they’re receiving a huge volume of transfer stuff while also still working through the freshmen applications, and since it’s mostly hard copy they’ll need some time to process it. If it’s not there in a week I’ll probably call.
Can anyone tell me why the external transfer acceptance rate is so high for agriculture and life sciences according to document @Mastodon97 posted???
@Mastodon97 Mind posting a link to the webcast?
Hello, everyone, I submitter all the material to Cornell. I am still waiting for the status from the checklist to be “received”. Why are you gays talking about which year you have applied for, like sophomore or junior? In my application, I never saw that option. Is that should be done in the course description? I just put few courses fits the courses in the junior standing but not all of them. The police is only all the courses fit the requirement, you can apply for the junior standing. Am I screwed?
I am from one CC in NY, GPA: 3.96, major: Chemical Engineering.
