Cornell Fall 2017 Transfer

There was some interest to the ILR Transfer webcast hosted by Ian, so I’ll post it on here for anybody interested.

Can anyone offer guidance on how long after submitting your application you got access to the portal? I haven’t gotten any emails yet

@joonyblue12 I am pretty sure it is because CALS gives a high amount go GTs or guaranteed transfers (which is basically you maintain a certain GPA and you apply with automatic admission)

In my situation, I submitted my CommonApp on 03/02 and I got the Application ID on 03/04.

@ballislife98 I submitted my application on the 14th and got access to the portal this morning

@bettycrocker03 Do you know anything about how can you specify which type of standing in the application? Like sophomore standing or junior standing?

@panda100 You don’t specify that on the application. They know by looking at your transcript and how many credits you’ve completed.

Guys…on my portal…all my financial aid stuff says initiated…does that mean its not completed?

There is about 100 ILR transfer applicants here…I’ve heard a few from AEM and absolutely no one from hotel lol.

I am not hotel but any human ecology?

@CornellAEMplease Nah theres just a few of us that are really active on this thread lol, CAS usually has the most

@Mastodon97 Yup, that’s what it looks like. They don’t say ILRies are overrepresented in leadership roles for 'nuthin.

Any anthropology majors applying? lol

Anyone applied to transfer to CAS as sophomore?

@rubberducky123 i did!

So I just found out today that I’m getting a B in one of my classes (ironically enough because I was too busy applying for colleges), and its my first grade in over a year thats not an A :frowning:
Im kind of freaking out because they are gonna see this on the mid-term report, how are they going to view it? Even though its not an ILR relevant class, I hope it doesn’t lower my chances,

@Mastodon97 don’t worry. It’s just a snapshot. Even though the B sucks, it’s very likely they’ll just use these reports to look if you’re not on academic probation or are suddenly doing really bad. If your midterm results are for the most part in line with your previous academic achievements, you should be good.

@Mastodon97 Like Ian said in the webcast, they’re only using the midterm report to see ILR related classes. In fact, Id go as far as to say they’re mostly using the midterm report for sophomore apps to get more grades and for junior apps to make sure the applicant is on track. If the class isn’t english, history, econ, etc etc, I wouldn’t worry at all.

@ILRie18 Uhh, well is Trigonometry an ILR relevant class? I wouldn’t think so cause when it comes to math ILR is really focused on statistics (where i did get an A  ) right?

@Mastodon97 I’d say that geometry and trigonometry, while are math, are largely unrelated to the calculus / statistics asked for. Nothing to worry about
