@ruby21 What are your stats btw?
I am just curious…how can you get GT from regular transfer?@ruby21
I unfortunately got denied from Cornell this morning, however I just noticed I had a missed call from New York from the number +1 (631) 938-5951. I called and all I heard was a radio ad. Anybody know if this number belongs to Cornell/received a call from this number as well? I don’t live in New York, so I never get calls from there, hence why I find this odd.
@anxious65 Ithaca’s area code is 607, so probably not.
@igotsunshine111 Townsend Harris? Stuyvesant? Bronx Science?
Did any non-transfer agreement CALS applicants hear back today? Also did anybody else apply for Environmental and Sustainability Sciences?
Rejected: CAS-computer science ;(
For those of you who care about the stats:
Rising Junior
College: top30 private school, 3.97/4.00 with 70+ credits, 1-year math/cs TA, summer intern in a tech company, lead some clubs, art awards
High school: attend high school outside of US, SAT2130
Good luck to everyone!!! <3
btw i’m still waiting for northwestern and upenn…anyone else?
hey has anyone heard from human ec? if accepted or not?
@chuchu616
Damn I’m sorry to hear that. I hope you get into northwestern and upenn.
Makes me worried bcz I am applying to CAS for CS as well.
@HopefulCollege95 dont worry too much… you are definitely qualified! best of luck!
Historically, have decisions been posted any day besides a Tuesday? Or should those of us waiting still just vanish and relax until next Monday?
Also, I guess I should probably ask for extensions with the schools that have a May 1st enrollment deadline? It feels like such an awkward request, how do I ask without offering the “holding out for something better” explanation?
@nontradStu1980
If you are very concerned about telling them it, and you are applying for financial aid you can say that you are waiting on a couple more schools to see how the aid works out and stuff.
You can also just straight up be like I am waiting on a few more schools so I can sit down and compare pros and cons with my fam or something. Colleges tend to be very accommodating, they know that you are applying to other schools and that they may or may not be your first choice.
@schlagzeugerin nope, it’s selective public (no tuition) but not in the NYCDOE system.
@nontradStu1980 I feel you, I’m in the same boat, especially having to call schools whose FA acceptance and admissions deposit deadlines are different.
I think that is what I will do, just be straight with them and say that I’m weighing all my options. This is absolutely the truth, especially for me. I’m an older transfer (37) and will be moving my family from Illinois to likely out of state. I live in same town as UIUC (someone here is transferring from UIUC to Cornell, right?). I was accepted to UIUC back in January, the other schools were originally just to see what would happen if I applied. But surprisingly my kids were all so open to moving somewhere new and when I began exploring programs at Cornell, Brown, and Dartmouth to name a few, I realized how much better suited those programs were for me than UIUC or any state school with very inflexible general education requirements. Next week we’re making a trip to Ithaca to visit (I’ve also been admitted to Ithaca College) to check out both colleges, K-12 schools, housing, gymnastics, cheerleading, etc…
Maybe I can just explain to Ithaca College (I think I can now call this my second choice) that it’s a holistic decision that involves many family related factors outside of academics and this requires waiting for all decisions. I just won’t mention Cornell by name. I’m just afraid I’ll be one of the June decision folks, just my luck. I guess worst case scenario, I would have to pay enrollment fee at two schools? Or lose the fee at one school.
@nontradStu1980 Upon completion of the common app, I believe you have to sign an agreement that you will not make a deposit to more than one school. I’m not sure about how this works for people applying to schools with different enrollment dates.
Right, you can’t hold places at more than one school simultaneously. But you can pay enrollment deposit then if you hear from another school and it’s higher up on your list, you can cancel at first school and then pay at the other. Without refund. So that means two payments.
I applied to 10 schools and I think 6 of 10 have a May 1st deadline.
Would I have to send in my ACT, SAT, and SUBJECT SCORES before May 1rst?
They are on my checklist now and my application has not been sent in for reveiw. They had notified me last week about the 10 day time line for submission, but only stated they needed my waiver, (Which is now done), My Transfer Report and Midterm report(Which was emailed) and my high school transcript(Sent via mail as soon as I got the notifcation).
Please and thank you!
Quick question (s):
- How did some people know that today is rejection day?
- Is there any chance that you know what day is next Tuesday (rejection/ admission)?
Thank you for replying!
@Shorelinium
People predicted that today would be rejection day by inferring from the past years threads in which the second week of decisions were almost always rejections. And no, the second week is the only one that you can really predict from past years threads, after the second week, its gonna be usually a mix of acceptances and rejections. So next Tuesday will probably be a mix.
