Hotel students have an "official" interview that it used as part of their admission decision. Alum interviews for other colleges are purely informational and don't have much effect on decisions unless you're a horrible person and the interviewer wrote about it or you're a borderline candidate and your interviewer wrote a glowing review.

Put another way: Definitely go to the interview and be on your best behavior.

You would be shocked at the number of negative reviews that us alums have to write-up due to the inability of applicants to make polite conversation.

Probably not. First your dad would actually have to be part of the organization that interviews students. There are 250,000 alums, but I believe only 15,000 or so actively contact students.

Secondly, within CAAAN we discourage alums from interacting with students they already know.

yes. definitely go to the interview.
i'm applying to the architecture school so the interview process is different--since it's a requirement, the applicants must schedule for the interview, not the alumni.
so i highly recommend that you go since that interview won't carry as much weight as those who are applying to the schools that require it.
i think i've also read somewhere that declining to be interviewed is viewed worse than having a horrible experience. actually going to the interview shows you're interested in cornell, so i would just give it a shot :]
relax and be confident. you'll be fine :D
