Has anyone participated in Cornell's multicultural visitation weekend, or know someone who did? I understand Cornell runs this program each year. This year it is at beginning of October and consists of two overnight stays at a dorm. I got accepted, by am now having second thoughts only because it is the weekend before my SAT II's. Is it worthwhile? Or just a lot of public relations?

I really recommend attending visitation weekends. While I didn't attend Cornell's, the ones at colleges I did attend were great. Its important to see the campus and the students, because the actual campus experience can be a lot different than the one portrayed in the campus viewbook.

But special weekend rarely reflect a college's true character.

i'm going. anyone else??

I wouldn't even consider going to a school with that kind of weekend. What kind of leftist school is that?

The fall foliage should be starting to turn in early October. Very pretty. Try to find time to visit the Johnson Art Museum on campus. Great art, especially chinese, and a wonderful view from the top floor. The Taste of Thai restaurant is pretty good in Ithaca on the "Commons". The Moosewood restaurant is kinda famous if you like vegetarian. Hope you have a good time.

I actually wanted to go :( but my mom somehow forgot to give me the envelope with the app in it :P so i didnt find out about it until it was too late lol

Tpeck, you should educate yourself. I don't know what you mean by "leftist" (although I can guess). Such weekends at college don't have any goals other than to introduce students to a bit of the college environment. I think you could use a little exposure yourself.

Multiculturalism is a movement for the support for minority festivals, holidays, and celebrations, and programs to encourage minority representation in politics, education, and the work force.

I see it as Cornell braging amouth their large minority population and trying to show off how diverse they are when introducing students to their college enviroment.

Why would I need exposure myself? I already have friends from different races, I don't have to go to a college that brags about it and pushs diversity down peoples throats.

Tpeck-
The diversity weekends I've applied to (Oberlin and Grinnell) are nothing like that. They are strictly for minority students and are trying to encourage more minorities to atttend the school. Actually, Grinnell's is also for first generation students.

"Pushs diversity down peoples throats." TPeck you are unmasked! You offer no objective evaluation in your statements. You attitude was willing or open. Clearly you're biased and you've admitted as such; "what kind of leftist school is that."

Your attitude was NOT willing or open.
