Cornell Transfer Rescission??

Help!!! I am an accepted transfer to Cornell Human Ecology. I am not a guaranteed transfer and I have already paid my deposit. However, I did receive on grade of a C this semester (others all A/A-). This is my only c ever. Will they rescind my offer? The letter says it is expected for successful completion of current coursework (A/B) but I’ve never seen this requirement earlier in the application process. How serious is this?

You will be fine, WSU. Cornell will not rescind your transfer acceptance because of that one C. The reality is that its a guideline that can be enforced if the rest of your stats and background are on the admissions fence. In your case you already received the acceptance from Cornell. I wouldn’t worry about it as many other transfer students had the same issue occur and were still admitted. If you’re really concerned call the admissions office to clarify, but typically rescinding an offer is usually only done in the case of gross misconduct (i.e. cheating). You’re good. Relax.

I’ve read a lot of other threads trying to see what would happen and not many people have posted what actually does when the admissions committee replies. Unfortunately they told me a C does not meet the requirements for acceptance and gave me an ultimatum to repeat the course over the summer and receive an A or I will not be able to matriculate

Cornell is actually quite serious about their transfer requirements. It is especially the case with guaranteed transfer. They are more lenient with first year freshman students.

I am not a guaranteed transfer. They are quite serious about transfer requirements for regular applicants even if the website doesn’t list no grades below a B as a requirement.

What’s the outcome?

They requested that I retake the course over the summer and if I do not received A’s then I will not be able to matriculate.

Best of luck, and of course work hard.
