Cornell University - Spring 2018 Transfer - Discussion Thread

I’m applied to transfer to SHA as well. Could you share some background info? Previous school, work experience etc

Hey guys! Congrats to everyone who’s gonna be coming to Cornell next semester. If anybody would prefer to live off-campus rather than in a dorm, my roommates and I are subletting our apartment for next semester. Two bedrooms in collegetown right by campus, for a significantly reduced price. If anybody is interested, send me a message!

did anybody get rejected for CALS?

@calshopeful2 have u committed to UMich already?

@Heading2College sure!

I had my nutrition professor and my english professor write my letters of rec.
My essays talked about my move from South Africa to the states and some job related experiences.

Some key classes I took were: Intro to Business, Financial Accounting, Macroeconomics.

Plus a few other small things! Hope this helps!

@azimuthal not really… i mean ive paid the deposit… but if NYU accepts me Im going to NYU…

is anyone else who’s been accepted yesterday having difficulties logging on to the housing portal??

Lel so I completely lost track of this thread. I tried using the reset pin trick but I got an error instead, does that mean I’m waitlisted?

Got it. Thanks. A Mom here, but will pass on to my daughter who is transferring this spring

hey! anyone looking for a roommate in the upcoming school year? (2018-2019) i’m also a transfer for spring 2018 to SHA!

So I could reset my PIN and the screen read, " Your decision will be available on the 12th" (which is tomorrow.) Anyone else in the same boat as me? This is so annoying! Can I get my decision already! My finals are going on and I just wanna relieve myself of the tension at this point!.

@pickles289 did you look at your transeval? (https://transeval.cals.cornell.edu) does it say your name and your major there?

@pickles289 I got the same response after resetting my pin. At least I have some idea when to expect an answer now!

Essay: Wrote about my father’s immigration here and how it’s helped shape/motivate me, and my visit to the physics department where I got to speak to the Physics Director and learn how Cornell Physics is structured. Also wrote about pursuing interests in business and foreign language (want more diverse curriculum than current uni). I spent many weeks on the supp and commonapp essay and am very happy with how they turned out.

Just looking for some thoughts, I never really knew much about the application process so I am curious what others are going through and I wish everyone the best in their endeavors!
