i have a friend whose application status is waitlisted.

my application status is accepted, but if i remember correctly, the campus and cluster before the shutdown said “under review”

i also have not received any form of notification

Thanks for the reply. I’ll have to call them tommorrow at lunch or after school.

I know some people have applied to several programs that mostly have May 15 intent-to-enroll deadlines. This is the only program I’ve applied to, but taking a CC course over the summer is my backup. You may know about this 5% limitation on the number of students in Cal who can take a CC summer course, and I happened to have been one of the lucky winners in my school’s lottery to take a summer course. But registration at the CC is May 7. My principal has told all the lottery winners that if they are not going to use their enrollment slot, he wants to be notified by May 5, so that he can re-issue a concurrent enrollment form to another student. So that’s my time situation.

No way I’m going to risk ****ing off my principal or guidance counselor (I may need their recs next year), so if I can’t get a COSMOS confirmation on both admission and money aid tommorrow, I may have to just withdraw the COSMOS app and use my CC slot — or risk doing neither for the summer. I was really hoping that I would have confirmation on both acceptance/rejection and money aid by May 1.

I think I’ll also let my guidance counselor know what’s going on.

do you think that its possible to still get into cluster 3: under the sea at ucsc if i was waitlisted. it was a super competitive cluster

call them and see how far up you’re on the waitlist…i dont know about any possibilities because you might be the next person up or the last person on the list haha

@ nikkiri89 yes they would because when i emailed ucsd, they did. and im pretty sure its the same system among all the campuses to let students know their status on the waitlist.

they first emailed me saying that i was on the waitlist, and asked if i was still interested. i said yes, then they emailed me back saying, okay we’ll get back to you around may 20th. then i asked how far down i was, and they told me. i think if they’re not telling you through email, you should probably call them. it only shows that you want it even more. i emailed them because i didn’t have a phone handy with me, but luckly, they emailed me back immediately, say, within 5-10 minutes. ucsc is pretty competitve-- i’m sure they recieve a lot of those emails, so yes, try calling.

i only got a response from the email saying i wanted to stay on the wait list. the other email regarding where i was on the wait list was not replied to

@nikkiri89 lol i would say keep calling until they pick up haha, but no try talking to them, and ask them about the selectivity in general, talk about your interests and why it matches theirs. somehow make a connection, and they might even move you up!

personally…i wouldn’t do that lol
i’m sure if you’re going ot call, make sure your purpose is to just check the wait list spot…
The call’s not meant for “making connections” as your suggesting but it’s for questions and stuff. I really doubt anyones going to stay on the line long enough to let you “talk about your interests and why it matches theirs.” That’s the purpose of the application you sent during February. also, i don’t think they’re going to bump anyone on the waitlist haha.
