Cost of a cab ride from SYR airport to Ithaca

I've already thought about the ithaca airline limo but the timings of the trips are inconvenient for me. I either have 45 mins to get off the plane from Syracuse airport, collect my luggage, and get on the bus to Ithaca (which I think is too little time) or 3.5 hrs (which means I'll have to wait for a long time for the bus). So I was wondering if I could take a cab from SYR airport to Ithaca (to be specific, to the Ramada hotel)

1) Am I right about the time taken to get out of the SYR airport and onto the bus (Ithaca airline limo)?

2) Is it possible to take a cab from the SYR airport to Ithaca?

3) How much would it cost (to the Ramada Hotel)?

45 minutes is plenty of time in a normal airport and more than enough in Syracuse. I don't think you realize how small the Syracuse airport is.

I've flown through LAX so many times, and it being one of the busiest airports, I can easily collect my baggage from the terminals and walk outside to the area where the pick-ups are in less than 30 min. With 45 min, I'm positive you will make it. Even if you don't, just whistle a taxi.

i'm guessing a cab ride from syracuse to ithaca would be like 250$?

where are you flying from? try booking a one-way ticket into ithaca (i'm getting a $250 one way rate from houston-philly-ithaca)

you dont know when your last final will be yet so no point in setting a return date just yet :D

lol. wait it out if you have to.

I got a one way directly to ithaca in august for 140 after fees (117 before).

Why don't you try renting a car?

for car rentals one usually must be 25...

Correction; Are your parents coming along to help you move in/get everything ready? If they are, then perhaps they can rent a car for you.

Syracuse airport is very small. My husband travels all the time and if he calls to tell me he has landed it is unusual for me to wait more than 15 minutes for him to get to the car. Also I find it hard to believe that a limo company that picks up at an airport would leave at exact times if they know you are arriving. Good luck.

A one way cab ride from Syracuse to Ithaca will run you about $100....although I'm sure cab fares are increasing with the rising cost of gas.

I used to pick my friend up all the time from Syracuse...from the moment we met at the gate we had her luggage and made it out of the airport within 10 minutes.

Thanks everyone. I know Syracuse is a pretty small airport and that it shouldn't take very long to get out but I'm an international student - won't they conduct additional checkups or something on me (I'll be flying in from JFK)?

My dad is accompanying me but he isn't renting a car because he's not sure he'll know the directions once we land.

Also how long does it take to board a plane after arriving at the SYR airport? I ask because my dad is going to go back to the SYR airport by the Ithaca airline limo the next day and get on a plane to JFK. His options are to either get to the airport 1.5 hrs or 4.5 hrs earlier than his flight's departure time. I'm pretty sure 1.5 hrs is enough time to check in and board the plane but considering that he'll be an international traveller, how long do you guys think it'll take?

So is the cab ride $250 or $100?

According to my friend who had to take a cab from Syracuse to Ithaca quite often....the ride was $100 per person.

When exactly are you coming in NY? I will be arriving on August 17th 8:30PM. We might as well be flying together LOL. I am international, btw.

You can always use mapquest or google maps.

MapQuest Maps: Syracuse Airport to Cornell University

Read the visiting directions on Cornell's site, there's a lot of good information there.

Link: Cornell University - The Ithaca Campus - Air Travel to Cornell University

Not sure if that was the bus you meant. I think they charged me $80 for a trip on the 21st from Syracuse to Ithaca.

theres a lot of different taxi companies in Syracuse.. they all have different pricing for a ride to Ithaca. There is a Taxi booth right inside the airport at the exit, and that taxi company (as of a month ago) charged $160 per ride. That means that if there happens to be another person trying to get to Ithaca (which is pretty likely) the cost gets split between all passengers. So, its quite possible you will be able to pay half or even 1/3, depending on how many other people are also interested in getting to Ithaca at that point in time.

has anyone here experienced a terrible flight to Ithaca, thru riding one of those small airplanes? IMO, these flights are scary as hell, being bumpy and all. I would fly to Syracuse and take the bus to Ithaca.

I had a meeting to attend in Nashville...flew out of Ithaca. Flying out of Ithaca was terrible b/c I was a on a tiny plane and my seat broke so I had to sit in the back. Then, my flight from Detroit to Ithaca was delayed due to ice and we had a rough landing.
