So firstly my freshman year I left the school in my seconded semester because I was getting bullied then I came back and I didn’t have enough credits to pass to the 10th grade so I redid my freshman over this year I was bullied for being a freshman for the second year and I was dealing with things that’s altered my school work and hanging with the people who didn’t care about school and they got me introuble and all 3 semesters were horrible my gpa were like in the 1.6 range I was barely passing once again so in my 4th semester I told myself I would get all A’s and i would stop hanging with the wrong crowd and worry about schooI and I actually did I got all A’s and 2 B’s and my gpa was a 3.7 do you think I have a chance to get in Michigan university if I continue all A’s and B’s considering the fact that I failed the first freshman year and almost failed it once again … it was due to me hanging with the wrong crowd and being Dumb but I’m back to normal and getting my grades up
On the off chance that this is a real person with a legitimate question…
In all honesty, if you mean U Michigan, it’s very unlikely. The acceptance rate is below 20%. Other applicants will have perfect grades and not get in. Find schools where your grades and tests scores align with the middle fifty percent.
If you continue to get good grades your freshman year will be largely ignored.
I teach at U of M. If you want to get in, I suggest learning punctuation to start.
The acceptance rate is not less than 20%, it was closer to 30% this year from what I have read (I thought it went from 23% to 28 %). Are you a MI resident? That would help you a little bit. I would say anybody has a chance if their grades are great for most of their high school years. It is also about your whole package, extra curriculars and leadership roles. You need to ace the SAT and or the ACT. Keep working hard and shoot for your dreams! If it does not end up being at MI, it could be at some other great school.
Don’t focus your attention to any one “dream” school. There are tons of amazing colleges and universities out there where you can get a great education, have a wonderful experience, and get where you want to go in life. When the time comes (junior year) honestly assess your academic needs, financial needs, social needs and look to create a well-balanced application list that includes reach, match, and safety schools that you would be excited to attend.
Thanks
@3js3ks I should have specified that the acceptance rate for OOS is below 20%. Being in state helps, of course.
Shoot for your dreams, as long as they are within the realm of possibility. The best approach is to be excited about schools you have a reasonable chance of getting into.
“The acceptance rate is not less than 20%, it was closer to 30% this year from what I have read (I thought it went from 23% to 28 %).”
Do you have a source to back this claim 3js3ks. According to most sources, Michigan received 65,000+ applications and admitted roughly 15,000 of them, which would point to an overall acceptance rate lower than 25%. As for OOS applicants, roughly 55,000 applied and 10,000 (18%) were admitted.
For the Class of 2021, 59,861 apps and accepted 15,864. That’s 26.5% overall.

For Class of 2022, I’ve heard that apps increased to 65,000-70,000 and I get the feeling that acceptances will be down because of the tight market (big waitlist, fewer waitlist offers, just like other top schools).
An increasing acceptance rate? Uh, that’s a big no.
