Could My Application be Rescinded?

Greetings all

I am a senior at a small college prep private school.

I have been accepted into Lafayette College on ED1. I would say I am a decent student I got a 3.45 GPA my junior year and on the interim report for halfway through first semester I had

Economics A-
AP Literature A
AP European History A
Calculus B
Spanish 4 B-

These were the grades I was accepted with, recently right before our midterm finals I had a big grade slip in calculus. That combined with the exam resulted in me having a C+ Calculus. All my other grades are exactly the same, maybe a fall from an another A- instead of an A. Do you think I will get my decision rescinded? Im also a preferred walk on for the tennis team with the coach pushing my application through.

Most people say that D range grades that cause real problems, not C range grades. But, being proactive is a good skill to develop and, since you have a relationship with the coach, perhaps check in with him and he can give you some feedback based on that specific school’s practices.

Almost a little embarrassed to text him about getting a C+, but that will most likely be the option I go with.

Parents, professors, coaches – they would rather know what the challenge is now, rather than hear about it later. You are not going to be the first student who had this complication. Hang in there, and get some tutoring! Demonstrating success second semester will look good!

I ended with a 78% AP Calculus 1st semester. Partially because I didn’t do any of my hw. I say just try a little more next semester. I know I am. Improvement looks good

I already got in, I’m worried about them rescinding

I think you are fine. The general rule is to avoid D’s F’s and felonies. One C+ should not be a major problem – just do whatever it takes to not slip further (ex. definitely do your homework, see teacher after class if needed etc.). It is best to keep your grades all in the B range.

FWIW my D graduated from Lafayette a couple of years ago and absolutely loved it.
