Could Tufts accept an average student?

Tufts is far my dream college; I can mention my stats if someone needed to judge.
Thanks anyways

There’s no information with which to advise you. You need to tell us about your grades, scores, activities, and if you like, demographics.

Demographics:
-Middle east (white) - Egyptian
Scores:
-Taking the ACT on September, scoring 30+ currently.
-SAT II, taking chemistry and math II on November
Activities:
A lot of volunteering and community service at my school as well as outside it
Grades:
4.0 Unweighted GPA (I raised my grades dramatically from my Sophomore year to my Junior year
Achievements:
Got the first place nationally in Avogadro’s chemistry exam by UWaterloo
Entering IYMC, Nasa Space apps, and ISEF the next months

How can you have raised your grades dramatically from soph to junior year if your uwGPA is 4.0?

Are you an international student?

Dude I don’t understand much about the GPA calculation but that’s what I asked my counsellor and said 4.0.
By the way, I can send you a record of my grades

How are you an average student? Average at your high school is a 30 ACT and a 4.0 GPA? That’s pretty amazing. Average at my kids high school is about 24 ACT and 3.1 GPA.

Agree with the above that you can’t have a 4.0 unweighted if you had improvement from one year to the next. A 4.0 means perfection all the way though. If you gave ever had any grades lower than an A, you don’t have a 4.0.

No need to send me a record of your grades, but a 4.0 unweighted GPA is straight As (however your school defines an A) in all core courses (FL, Sci, English, SS, Math).

Tufts acceptance rate was below 15% last year, and I expect it was lower than that for international students. Point being it’s a reach for nearly all applicants.

Tufts is also need aware for internationals, so it’s an advantage if you are full pay. If you will be applying for FA, it will be a disadvantage.

I got 3 A+'s and 6 A’s during my Junior year

My sophomore year contained some B+'s
By the way, I am addressing my GPA for Junior year, not sophomore year

Schools will look at your cumulative unweighted GPA, what is that? Calculate it on a 4pt scale, core courses only.

Unfortunately, I am applying for FA; I know it’s a disadvantage but that’s really my financial status - can’t meet the full cost

I see; my sophomore year unweighted is 3.52, while my junior year unweighted GPA is 4.0

You have to look at your cumulative GPA, not each year. So your cumulative UW GPA is maybe approximately 3.77? You have an upward tree and, which is helpful, but as an international looking for aid, you have to shine.

it’s more than just grades…no one can tell you if you will be accepted based on grades alone. They look at the whole scope of your application, demonstrated interest and fit as well.

How can I show demonstrated interest during this pandemic - online I mean?

start with online for now. sign up for all their social media platforms. sign up for mailing lists etc.

post pandemic attend info sessions if possible and visit if possible. Not sure if you can, but I also attend a summer intensive program when I was in HS and info sessions in my city.

also…send thank you emails!!
