Could we have an all-Big 10 Final Four?

Man I wish I was on campus tonight and not co-oping

Florida is probably the most balanced team remaining in the tournament in terms of offensive and defensive efficiency.

McGary’s toughest matchup this entire year was against Withey tonight, and he handled it splendidly. He was consistently awesome throughout the game, and his 25/14 stats were very “quiet,” if that term is even possible to use in this situation. He should easily handle Erik Murphy down low, though Patric Young could be another story. My guess is that Beilein will opt for the larger lineup if things get rough early on, as Florida starts two players that can fill in the 5 spot, making them effective on the offensive glass (something we need a solution to for sure). Meanwhile, GRIII will probably take care of Erik Murphy, and I think this will be a rather even matchup, to be honest. They are similar style players with similar size and skillsets. They should more or less negate each other.

Trey Burke easily trumps Scottie Wilbekin at the point position, and I believe that will be the biggest matchup disaster for Florida. There’s not much to say about this one other than Trey Burke should by all means have a big game as long as he makes his shots. He could definitely have four or five steals as well.

I believe Nik Stauskas and Mike Rosario will match up with each other, which will be interesting, because Rosario is a driver and Stauskas is a shooter (though lately, he’s been off). Stauskas has a major height advantage which could be key. He can shoot over Rosario with ease and get those long rebounds. Florida depends largely on the three, and if they miss, Stauskas could be big in that department.

The best matchup of the game by far, though, will be Hardaway and Boynton. I’m really looking forward to this one. Both incredibly athletic and potentially explosive players that can hit virtually any shot. Boynton’s had a bit of a down year, but when he’s on, he makes this team even more frightening. Hardaway gets the slight edge here, but it can easily go the other way.

Looking at all this, neither team has a major advantage overall. The key to the game for Michigan is how well they take care of the ball as well as how well they guard the three. Do both of those well and I think we’ll see a W.

In 1985, the Big East had 4 teams in the elite 8 (Georgetown, Villanova, St John’s and BC) and 3/4 made the final 4 with BC losing to Memphis IIRC…

Thanks for the great analysis entenduintransit. Here’s hoping. We’ll know in less than 40 hours.

Early Vegas line is Florida favored by 1.5 points - shows you how even a match it should be.

Enten - nice writeup. Michigan was dynamic last night; saying that was a thriller is an understatement to be sure; truly a classic as Alexandre said.

While we pulled it out; FL certainly has the size to go into the paint over and over again if UM allows that as they did for the first 33 minutes against KU (something like 60 points scored in the paint). I don’t know if at this point in the season, Beilein has any further answers to shore up the inside defense.

Regardless, we can all expect another thriller on the Road to Atlanta. Hey, how 'bout mounting a lead in the 1st half!

And then there was one

Good luck to the Maize and Blue tomorrow! Tomorrow is going to be a very exciting day in college hoops.

Thanks goldenboy. The winner of the Louisville/Duke game will be favored to win the NC.

Already up 25-10. Off to a great start. Go blue!

Hello Hello IS ANYBODY WITNESSING THIS? IS THIS REAL LIFE OR AM I DREAMING??? ha

Totally Stunned. Half time - UMich 47- FL 30 or, if you prefer, UMich Freshmen 31 points, Florida (team) 30 points.

OMG! Totally amazing!

Looking excellent so far. A 17 point deficit should be almost impossible to overcome. Go Blue baby!

Long way to go Alexandre. Florida is a three point shooting team. If they get hot, the gap can be closed quickly. Let’s keep scoring!

Woah!!! Great team effort. It has been exactly 20 years since my Freshman year, and since Michigan made it to the Final Four. We made the #5 and #3 seeds look mediocre. With the exception of the first half vs Kansas, we have pretty much dominated every team we played so far.

The remaining teams in the tournament are all “hot” right now, so winning going forward is going to be a lot tougher. I wonder who we match up better against; Duke of Louisville. Any ideas?

We match up better against Louisville because they are not Duke.

Go Blue!!

Right now I don’t care about an all B1G final four because we are there!!!

It’s Great to be a Michigan Wolverine!

tOSU had the easiest path the Final Four. Funny how they managed to screw that up.

Hail yes! Hail Canada! That was fabulous.

lol michigan vs syracuse, whos that kid goign to root for?

…you must not have watched much basketball this year huh? It’s a moot point now that Louisville crushed them but Louisville is the only team in the country with guard play comparable to ours. Burke is the best player in the country but their overall talent and athleticism back there with Russ Smith is amazing. They will be a handful if we see them in the finals but I think it’d be a good game.
