Could you recommend a few reaches?

I have my safeties and targets, but I'm unsure of what reaches to apply to. They all seem out of my reach.

I'm a senior, African American female
3.56 uw GPA and 28 ACT
I live in an urban area and I have over 300 hours of community service and I have held multiple leadership positions. :-)

My current reaches are The University of Rochester and Case Western Reserve University, but I plan on applying to more.

I'm looking for schools in the Midwest, northeast, and midatlantic regions. I would like to major in Poli Sci and if the school is good in fine arts, that's a plus.

Anything? Please :)

Perhaps RPI and WPI.

there are lots of schools. have you tried using a college search engine to narrow it down? other criteria - big/small, urban/rural,FA???

RPI and WPI are not good matches for your interests ;)

Hmmm. For some reason I thought the OP mentioned engineering (probably just based on CWRU and Rochester). My bad. I agree with using the CC college search engine.

Maybe Oberlin as a reach for a good, small LAC. For urban schools, maybe George Washington or American in DC would be slight reaches. Both great for Poli Sci.

@DGDzDad Thanks! George Washington would be a great option.

As an AA applicant with above a 3.5, you would be sought after at many small private colleges. If you are in the top 10% and have taken rigorous courses, consider Carleton. If not, maybe Grinnell, Macalester.

American would be a safety but you would be in a great neighborhood of DC (thinking of Poli Sci). Oberlin is a great idea for a reach–be sure to identify yourself with admissions and interview. You might like NYU or BU if you prefer urban schools. If your standardized scores were higher, the sky would be the limit for you. In any case, don’t be stressed because you will have lots of options.

@nervedoctor I am retaking the ACT two more times, haha. I don’t think I’ll like American because it seems like everyone is majoring in the same thing! And NYU is too large. Thank you for the suggestions.

You can look at traditional women’s colleges as well as schools like Pitt and University of Delaware.

American U considers applicants interest (rated Very Important). It is not a safety, but if the OP shows good interest then should be a good match.
