Counselor can't upload his Letter of Recommendation

My counselor uploaded the Final Report first, so now he can’t upload the letter of recommendation.

He says that he can just email it to the colleges. However, I told him not to because I think the recommendation would lose all credibility that way, and I certainly do not want to hinder my chances of being admitted because of a mistake my counselor made.

I am applying to colleges with Jan 1 and Jan 2 deadlines, so I can’t just email/call the colleges now in order to ask what I should do. Should I apply even though I am facing this issue, and then email/call the colleges after the holidays to ask how the LoR should be submitted? Or can I just assign my counselor as a teacher and have him upload the letter of recommendation that way?

Is there any chance my colleges will accept the letter of rec to be sent by email from my counselor? I really can’t afford to send this letter of rec by mail to every college (I live in Europe).

If he does email it, it would be best to have it come from an .edu or some other school email versus a personal email.

He doesn’t have an .edu email, unfortunately. My high school does not have a counselor, so I had to contact the counselor I have now, who is an EducationUSA counselor. Because of this, he doesn’t have a school email (at least not that I know of; I’ve only talked with him through his personal email).
So you think it would be okay to email it?

Bump!

I have to point out, WHY did either you or he wait until past the last minute? Common App has been open since August 1. Deadlines for all colleges have been posted ahead of time.

I agree… at this point, no one can advise you except possibly your guidance counselor, and that advice is likely to be “Oh, well, do what you can.” And he is on vacation right now, savoring the last day off. Any email to him is very likely-- and rightly-- going to be ignored until he gets to school tomorrow.

His advice in October would probably have been different.

Good luck.

Counselor may not be back tomorrow. Many schools will not resume until January 8.

Ouch.
