Counselor has not submitted secondary school report/transcript, and I don't know what to do

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!

I checked my application status last night and found that my guidance counselor has not submitted my secondary school report and transcript yet, and it is due on Jan 1. I sent her an email yesterday and again today, but have gotten no response. I am worried that she might not be checking emails over break, and the time crunch is beginning to worry me.

I know that she got the invitation sent through the MIT website because she sent me an email at the beginning of the month (when I sent the request) asking about my application ID, and I have records that I’ve submitted a transcript release form for MIT to my school. At this point, I can’t do anything about this problem. I’ve already re-sent the request/invitation, but if she isn’t checking her email, I’m screwed.

Any advice would be appreciated. I think I might try to contact the admissions office, explain what has happened, and ask for an extension of the deadline for that part, but idk if they’d even allow that. PLUS I don’t know how to contact the right people for that, so yeah

I’m in a bit of a pickle.

(MIT is my first choice, too, so I’m freaking out quite a lot right now hahaha)

Bingo. Your counselor is a professional; she knows what to do. Whether it’s sent on January 1st or a few days later will not matter. You need to get your part in on time, but colleges will usually have a grace period for things out of your control.

She may not responding to emails but she may or may not be checking them. Again, not a big deal. It’s her vacation too, and she does not have to answer work emails on her vacation.

Just chill. :slight_smile:

They will probably accept it late. Do everything you can to get it in on time however.

Your GC is on break. Guess what. MIT admissions is on break too. There’s no one tasked to delete all apps missing a single document at one minute past midnight on Jan 2. You’re fine.

OP here-
if anyone cared what happened, i finally got in contact with my gc today. she was having technical difficulties w the application website, so she had to send everything in by mail (and that’s why it hasn’t shown up yet)
MIT admissions office also said not to worry- they will accept material from gcs and teachers a few days late

@kittkatt835 Nice!
