Count of Acceptances, by School, Fall 2010

I would be surprised if anyone thought this was in any way a comprehensive or even representative list of who was accepted as music majors. It is obvious that this is a nonrepresentative sample/cross-section of acceptances. But I think most of the people who read and post on these threads find the lists to be interesting and informative. Many people are happy to hear of successes here, some are also happy to learn about programs they may had not known about, etc.

I know that many students these days prefer to post on Facebook than a site like this, and there must be many international students coming to the U.S. to study music who are not posting here for whatever reason. Some people are really concerned about privacy/anonymity and would not want to provide information (such as acceptances) that could possibly identify the student. Among parents I personally know who had students applying to top music schools, midlevel schools and lesser known schools, some of them had never heard of College Confidential or did not have the time or inclination to check it out.

It is obvious from looking at the lists that they could only be a small subset of all the students being accepted into music programs. But the fact that not every student and school is not on the list, or the fact that Curtis Institute for example, is not among the schools on the list so far this year, does not make the lists or this site any less valuable to the people who post or merely read the posts.
