Countdown to August 1st for Class of 2012- Who's Ready To Apply?

@Rush10
Can you help me out with this whole brag sheet thing? I am so ignorant when it comes to actually filling out the physical forms that it is almost sad. I know what I want to put down and I have compiled a good list, but I am curious as to where I put this. Is there going to be a space to copy and paste it into the common app or am I expected to attach it to my application and send it in typed on a regular sheet of paper?
Wow it’s embarassing that I have no clue how to do that, but I can laugh at myself:)

As to how I am preparing…I am going to start really studying for the fall ACT and SAT today (before Harry Potter, might I add:) ), and I am also hoping to start writing my common app essay and U Michigan essays sometime in the next week. Busy summer though.

also fdeb35…you just described my life. It is insane how much work I have right now but after the junior year I am sure most of us just had, I really just wanna lay in bed with a good non-assigned novel and some classic movies. sigh.
good to know I am not alone though. :)

Savant12, I am a first gen too, so I have no help whatsoever from my parents. They don’t really know how to do any of this kind of stuff. So it’s been overwhelming but I think I have it all planned.
I am so nervous to start applying to college. I have been waiting for senior year to come and I want april 1 to come even sooner. However I don’t want to rush my senior year! It is that last year we are kids. It’s just weird how time goes by so fast. I’m trying not to worry about this all and just take it one day at a time :). By the way I’m addicted to this site and it’s becoming a problem. Anyone else feel this way? Im site seriously makes me paranoid about college.

We all need some rehab because of this site lolz.

This site does not make me paranoid, it just hypes me up.
lolz

It’s great how many awesome people i’ve “met” through this thing. lolz. And their advice is sooo valuable.

ZOMG SO READY. williams is gonna have my ED app by august 2nd.
if anyone wants to exchange essays (or supplements) i would totes be up for reading. PM me.

Its good to see that we are on the same page. We have a lot of work to do, especially those that are applying early.

All I can say is, dont be afraid to shoot for the stars! If you have a dream school, go for it, just like I’m doing!

I have literally 4 books to read, 5 papers to write, and one huge questionnaire about the Constitution to do before school starts. Along with this I have marching band starting in early August that is every day from 3PM-9PM, and sometimes even 10AM-9PM. I have no time to think about applications and I feel like it’s going to put me at a disadvantage. :(

@Samonuh This year is when we put our time management skills to the test. No one said its going to be easy… Somehow, someway you are going to need to make time for everything. You’ve gotten this far, now you just need to cross the finish line.

I have no time management experience…lol. I’m a hardcore procrastinator and video game addict.

^I have so much more homework to do before school starts as well. It’s crazy! lolz

I have 7 schools i’m applying to EA, the rest i’ll do RD. So I know i’ll need to stop my procrastinating ways. lolz

I’m confused about the common app. Where does the great essay go? I have not seen a section for it. >.< ugh.
Does anyone know a website that can help me understand the common app a bit more? The real common app site confuses me @_@

^agreed. (see earlier comment)

I have no clue what to put where; help? :(

……………

I’ve already asked for recommendations and I’ve finished my resume. I’ve yet to start on essays (which will be the death of me).

Didn’t really start writing my essay , no clue what to do.
I have no time to think about it since the SAT is stealing all my time :frowning:
Iam really nervous , Iam really nervous about not getting accepted in my dream college , I’ve been planning since 5 years ago to apply there and now this moment came and my future will be determined by on of these two words : ( accepted ) or ( rejected ) .
And I still have piles of things to do over the vacation and iam going to my Father to spend the vacation there ( he lives in a different country ) .

College life is really steressful .

Gd luck to all of you class of 2012 , we’re da best . I hope we all get accepted at our dream colleges (:

I’m only just beginning summer work + essays. I am extremely excited though… I can’t wait to be a senior! Seniors '12 represent!!!

I haven’t even started my summer work yet. I’ll definitely do it either Monday or Tuesday, lol.

@BlackRose: Message me on fb, and I’ll help you with the common app come August 1st.

Hello all !! I am applying as an international student to a bunch of selective universities ( stanford , yale , washu , duke and dartmouth) . My grades are good but my EC aren’t that great

got any advice ???

Hey there!

Share your EC list and then perhaps we can help you a bit more :)

now, 314159265, I saw you mention that your resume is completed. Where exactly does the resume go on the common app? Is it in the “additional information” section?

Yeah, resumes go to the “additional information” section. I don’t know whether I should have a brag sheet or not since all of it is pretty average.
