Another alternative: Finish all your work and watch the entire Season 3 of Family Guy.

<--- Loyal Neopian for almost four years :).

Eh, inflation isn't that bad - only 2.31%, which is quite minimized because there are some games in which you can earn the max of 1000 NP practically every play, once you practice and such.

*wants to play neopets again. resists. *

only 2.31%? Hmm...At one point I was buying apples for 1np...and suddenly it was 25np....haha, and those...battlestone thingoes? like, 60 neopoints or something and then blam it was 30,000. I'm rusty with all this terminology - don't mind me : ).

I miss my electric blue Kau.

nspeds: or Alias. I'm a big fan. The action's so good you can almost ignore the b-s science going on ;)

Bah! Alias!

Who could resist an adorable baby plotting to take over the world?

Nothing on Neopets is ever very cheap, except on half-price day (the 3rd of every month), but for some reason I still derive pleasure from continually playing....

I guess it's just good stress relief...the best interactive site on the 'net, imo.

"Bah! Alias!' - nspeds
gets mad

emilia: i'll second you there - neopets is an incredible online community, and yes, the best interactive site.

Yeah this is pitiful. I added the login page to my favorites with my name and password saved so now all I do is randomly click on it when I'm online and endure a five second wait for "evaluation in progress".

you can save your name and password? goes to be pitiful with you

hey, where do you go on the rice website, to check your application status?

mea,

I think vig180 is using a cookie to store the information. Either that, or he/she has a Macintosh with Keychain installed.

I just took the time to update my stats on a certain website...I see Vig from here is also listed as pending for Rice ED/EA :D.

Hehe, this is my first update on that site in months.

buckwald: https://www.futureowls.rice.edu/AdmissionStatus/

username etc. should have been emailed to you.

Feels nice to try and help you out after seeing you help out a ton on the HPME board.

Why is "that website" referred to without a name? Does this site not approve of it?

Perhaps the amount of times a username has logged in is used to gauge the amount of interest an applicant has in the university...

nspeds, I originally posted both a link and the name of the website and it magically turned into a lot of little asteriks...so draw your own conclusions :p.

Yeah, I can see it now:
Rice Adcom 1: So-and-so has a class rank of , SAT score , SAT II scores____, National Merit Scholar, participates in such-and-such ECs, good recommendation, good essay, and oh yeah, has logged into the Rice admissions site a total of 504 times since December....
Rice Adcom 2: Only 504? Seriously, most of the people in this group have logged in 1,500+ times....

But to be perfectly honest with everyone, I'd say I've logged into the site at most 20 times. Although in the last few days I've done it a lot. And it is running slowly.

only 20 times, emilia? I'm afraid this is the end for you... ;)....

(just in case the feb 10th nerves are getting to you - of course I'm joking)

Hahaha....no I'm perfectly calm right now. That was amusing :D.

emilia,

You should be ashamed at yourself. The amount of times one logs into the admissions-status website has been scientifically proven to have a positive correlation with intelligence.

I am not good at being facetious.

I think it correlates more closely to the person's stress level, anxiousness, and irritability than anything :p. Your attempts at being facetious, nspeds, are quite appreciated :).

Let me just say this in general....even without knowing any of your (and by your I mean everyone who applied ID and is anxiously posting here) stats, I think you all are very qualified, bright, and creative young people that would be an asset to Rice or any other school to which you've applied. Nervousity (it sounds better than nervousness to me) is to be expected but it's out of our hands now and into the hands of people who probably drink a lot more coffee than we do...haha. So seriously, sit back, relax, take a nap, or do something to get your minds off this. And I'm pretty sure when decisions do come out, there will be a lot of happy CCers :D.

goes back to listening to random music

The feeling is mutual.
