^ that's what I hoped to from december ACT... Let's hope February is my last one...

yay! Me too! My first time as a junior taking it officially. Although I've had a couple unofficial practice runs at different locations...I am also hoping for a 30+! Let's cross our fingers, study hard, and hope for the best!

We can do it :) Happy new year by the way!

same. looking for a 32+ this year.
im a freshman.

I got a 30 on the December ACT, first time taking it. I got accepted already, but I'm hoping for a 32 in Feb. for scholarships.

My D will take the February ACT. She has been prepping and taking lots of practice tests. She has a chance to take a free full ACT practice in January at her school through Kaplan. Would this be beneficial since the test is not from the ACT? Or should she just use that time to do a full length practice test at home using one of the Real ACT tests?

travelthrulife ~ My S took the ACT in December for the first time (Junior). He scored 33 (35,35,33,30) and we were extremely happy. He randomly bubbled the last 7 questions in science because he ran out of time.

His prep involved 2 full practice tests in the Real ACT book and the free test that comes with the registration packet). He took one of these full length practice tests the Saturday before the test so he could see how his endurance held up. I'm not sure that taking a full length practice test at the school would have been any more beneficial than just doing it at home. On the practice tests he managed to get the science section completed within the test time; however the actual test on the Dec ACT was really intense. He obviously did really well on the questions he completed (since he didn't finish 7 and still got 30). Good luck to your daughter!

Thanks mom2010grad. we will just play it by ear and see how she feels when the time comes.

go do barron's PR's and Real's.
then you're set.

Mom2010grad,

Congrats to your son on a job very well done. My son is taking Act on Feb.7(a first timer). He scored a 30 on PR ACT practice test given by his school. He got a 34-35 composite on the three real tests on Red Book. From your experience, does he have a decent shot in February? I'm not sure how I can gauge his performance on the basis of his Red book performance. Thanks!

MWdesi ~ I think that the Red Book practice test scores for my S were very indicative of the real test score. He was getting scores ranging from 30-35 on the various practice sections. 1 more point on one section on the actual exam and S would have had a 34 composite rather than 33. If your S is getting 34-35 I would expect he would get the same on the actual exam (assuming he doesn't have any kind of test taking anxiety issues). Good luck to him and let us know how he does. My S is also retaking on Feb 7th just for the heck of it ~ trying to pull the science score up a couple of points. If he doesn't do any better he will be done taking it ~ we are pleased with a 33.

mom2010grad: Thanks for a very informative reply. My S hopes to get a 31-32 and end the saga of Junior year test taking. His SAT score was decent. Sure, I will let you all know about his performance in February.

Good luck to your S (ah it sucks to lose 34 by a point..not fair) and other kids taking the Feb test. Let all their composite dreams come true.

25 in december.. but completely panicked on science. Expecting a 28+ been getting consistent 30-32s on the red book
