^ 5 am eastern time

@loljk: Here’s the countdown if you missed it on the first page:

[Countdown to Oct 25, 2012 5:00 AM in Washington DC](<a href=“Countdown Timer – Countdown to Oct 25, 2012 5:00 am in Washington DC, District of Columbia”>Countdown Timer – Countdown to Oct 25, 2012 5:00 am in Washington DC, District of Columbia)

I can’t believe I’ll know my score tomorrow morning! I’m going to have a hard time falling asleep tonight.

12 hours left! The anticipation is horrible. :(

What happens in fifteen hours will determine fifty years of my life! No big deal.

Oh, it won’t. YOU will determine the next fifty years of your life.

Well you…and some other arbitrary factors outside of your control. But yeah, I don’t think where you go to college is all that important…unless your dream is to work at XYZ firm which only recruits from ABC college.

If I don’t get into college here, or get in with sufficient aid, (both of which are quite likely, seeing as I’m an international applicant), I’m confident I will still have the chance to get a good education elsewhere. I will have to learn some things on my own (i.e, all those distribution requirements people don’t like), the research opportunities and student life will be vastly different, but I’ll still have a shot at achieving what I want. Just in a different way.

I’m waiting for my SAT scores anxiously but my 1940 is already far above the middle 50% for the school I wanna go to…So my mind is at the same time panicking and going “Why am I even waiting?”

Reality is the writing is pretty much worthless. The score that matters is Math and Reading.

ahhh yes. game 1 of the world series is tonight…at least that’ll be something to take my mind off the scores.

@bgmargate doesn’t uc schools care a lot about the writing section though? =/

anxiety. SO MUCH ANXIETY. i could wake up tomorrow and see a 1900. or i could see a 2200 (FAINT)i cannot believe we will know in just 12 hours.

the next four years of my life are determined by this score. this score make or break!

Less than ten hours to go!

There maybe a few schools who care about the writing but the overwhelming majority don’t even consider it.

@bgmargate

I really don’t agree. If you look at the Ivy League’s SAT score ranges, writing is usually the same, if not better, than math and critical reading. If it didn’t count, you would see a lot of kids admitted with below 750, which just isn’t the case. If that were the case, you would see many kids with below 600s in writing at Harvard.

I actually find that kids who can’t do well on a certain section claim it doesn’t count (just like kids with 4.0s who can’t break 2000 often say the SAT doesn’t matter, when in reality it does).

I second what s13nior said. That’s simply not true; the writing section matters.

You can argue that a higher Critical Reading score is more impressive than a higher Writing score, but claiming that they don’t even consider it is extreme. And we all know better than to believe extreme answers. Wait a minute. Does that apply in real life too or just the SAT…?

I’m so anxious to get my scores! I’m waking up early just to check. ^^ Hopefully it will not be like the June SAT scores when the site was down…

My two top choice schools and my safety have all said that they only look at CR + M. I hope that’s true because Writing is the wild card section for me.

Either way, I’m hoping for a 1500+ combined CR + M and praying for a 2280 overall.

S13 On further reflection my statement was a bit harsh. Many schools don’t consider writing but more do each year. For my daughters sake I hope they do consider it. She scored a 750 on the writing as a soph.

Yes, I also do think the writing section is a bit easier if you’re a natural writer. I was able to get a 750 as an 8th grader on the writing section, whereas i had a lot more trouble on CR and M, even to this day.

Writing is a wild card for me as well. I’m pretty sure that I got an 800 in math and a 730ish in critical reading. I usually get a 750-760ish on Writing but I want a 770-780. I think I missed 2 on that section. If I filled both pages for the essay and used 3 at least decent examples, what would my minimum essay score be?
