So my cc is on the quarter system, and registration for the spring quarter starts tomorrow. I noticed that one of the classes I planned on taking, and put as a planned class on my application, will not be available. It is a class I was going to take for IGETC. So I will have to take another class to satisfy this IGETC requirement. I plan on contacting all the UCs first thing when they open this morning. What do you guys think, is this a big deal? It's not related to my major, and the other class I will be taking is from the same sequence (1B instead of 1A). I'm a little bit worried, but I feel like I should be fine. Thanks!

Nah, I think you should be fine as long as you notify all of the UCs.

They’re actually pretty cool about these things as long as you take the time to notify them in a timely manner. They’re definitely harsh on those who get too many Cs(Like 3, I believe in the spring quarter/semester before transfer) and any D or F grades in the spring quarter/semester.

Just be glad you’re not in a situation like that, lol. :P

Edit: I’m curious to know where you want to go. Which UC is your #1 school? What’s your major?

Thanks Cayton. That makes me feel better. What were you doing up so late btw (or early)? I’m going to call them as soon as they open this morning for sure though.

Well my major is music, because I want to write songs for movies and commercials and stuff. But I’m going to look into possibly double majoring in something more practical once I transfer, because music is…well music lol. It’s not exactly the safest career choice or major. I don’t know if it will be possible for me to double major and still graduate in time, and I don’t even know what else I would major in, but I’m going to talk to a counselor about it. If not I don’t really mind though.

And I really want to go to Berkeley. I’ve always kind of wanted to, and I live way up north in a small town, and would like to be able to return home on weekends sometimes. So Berkeley would be perfect for this. And as much as this shouldn’t matter, it would be really cool to be able to tell people I go to Berkeley I’m getting reaaally anxious waiting to see if I get in.

What about you? What’s your major and first school choice? And also what’s your career plan, if you have one?

I’m kind of a night owl. Not by choice, though lol

It’s great that you want to major in music and wish to go to Berkeley. Best of luck to you, man. Follow your passion!

I think you can graduate on time as a double major, but you’ll probably have to take classes every quarter/every semester and winter/summer session.

My #1 school is UCLA. I’m a philosophy major, and honestly, I’ve no idea what I’ll do with my life. I’ll probably work at McDonald’s after graduation I’ll figure something out.

Hope you get in to Berkeley!

@Cayton - If you think you’re going to get a C or two why not just to the course Pass/No Pass? lol because if it’s in your major you most likely wouldn’t be getting a C in the first place and since it’s not in your major it’s likely general ed for IGETC so you’re allowed to take that Pass/No Pass and that way not look bad for getting a C.

Just food for thought

@Matt4200

Oh no, I’m not in danger of getting a C in any of my classes. You misunderstand. :P

@Cayton - Not you personally lol I mean for anyone, referring to when you said this, “They’re definitely harsh on those who get too many Cs”

@Matt4200

Oh, OK then. :)
