I am planning to major in either Anatomy and Cell Biology or Biochemistry. Do any of you reccomend for me to tkae the full 5 course load in my first term or do you recomend a 4 course load. I called McGill and they suggested to take only 4 courses to get used to the school. What are your stances? And also, any other Science majors out there, wat are you taking?

Are you coming in with any AP credits? If so, McGill is very generous in awarding you college credits, so you wont have to take five courses to keep up with degree requirements.
Science courses, with labs, are very demanding and time consuming, so I suggest you do four courses the first semester.

My daughter has finished her second year. With AP credits and a summer course each year, she has always taken four courses. McGill charges by the course hour, so you will pay less for four courses.

sup - A friend's daughter did the 5-course load you describe at McGill and had to drop out. She's a very bright student but it was too heavy a course losd.

Mcgilldad - Did your daughter do a calculus sequence - ie, 150/151 and 133 or 140/141 and 133? S can't figure out which to choose or even who to call. He gets the impression that individual math/eco profs don't want to be contacted although he did not have that experience at all with language profs. Maybe just a little intimidated. Any advice?

Woody: I am not sure, but I think she placed out of the math necessary for her program, Interdisciplinary Arts and Sciences and her double major in humanities/psychology.
Sorry I cant help.

I will say, unfortunately, that my daughter has never been able to meet her adviser even one time in two years at McGill. He is either gone, unavailable or available at a conflicting time. He never answers e-mails, and the McGill administration will not give her a different adviser. She will now see her faculty adviser as a third-year.

The problem is that some canadian medical schools require you to take a full 5 course load. Are there any suiggestions as to how to make a 5 course load more manageable.
