CR concentration levels

whenever I am actually taking or practicing the test in CR section, I don't get what the passage or the questions are asking. But whenever I go over the passage, I tend to get what it is asking then. Why is this? LOL

What do you score on the CR? I have the same pattern, and I score in LOW 400's. Dammit.

like 400-500 :/

Try taking some ADHD medications.

Just kidding...

Its all about the practice. A technique that helps me concentrate is underlining the pasage. Even if there is nothing important in a sentence i underline it. It forces your mind to focus. Tracing your reading with your finger will also have the same effect. Try it out.

I gave up on reading the entire passage a loooong time ago. All I do is just do certain questions as I read the passage so by the last question, I have all of the questions answered.

The passage isn't something you WANT to like. All you want to do is suck out all the answers from it as quickly as possible, move on to the next one, and then hope that some math is on the next section so you can feel more confident =p

Incorporate both Edwardz and Parian's advice, it's great, of course, I don't read everything, well, I do, but I answer the questions as I read along because it helps me understand what they are looking for and what the passage means as a whole.

I agree about underlining major parts of the passage. I did considerably better after I started underlining (most missed were from sentence completions. It was the other way around before). Also take a few seconds to write couple of words about each of the paragraphs. This will help you when you are answering the questions.

YEAH, that really helps. I always do that haha.

Sat passages have been very easy to read (for me) for the last couple of days .. i think ap eng lang has prepped me up. the ap eng lang passages were HARD... much more advanced sentence structures, vocabs, etc.. Now, when i read sat passages, it's just like reading...normal stuff. And reading normal stuff = easier to understand = less concentration and re-reading needed.

Maybe reading more advanced passages will help..?

Yeah, read more and more, that'll help prep you for the SAT!
