im currently at a CCC and im pretty strong in all categories EXCEPT math. My main goal is to attend a medical school, so i was wondering would the ADCOMS look down on my pass no pass Calc?

My advisor told me that some grad schools (I'm not sure if he included med schools or not) will just assume you made a C and actually refactor your gpa. Therefore he suggests to never pass/fail a class that has to do with our major or needed as a requirement for grad school. I don't know how true this statement is but I think it makes sense for highly competitive schools.

much gracias daisy! i suspected this but was hoping for the opposite answer... like hey screw math pass/fail it!

We're told (by our advisor as Duke students) that it's simply not allowed.

yea UM says that too...the whole they might take it as a C and screw ur gpa over so we're not allowed either

geeez thank god i ask all you CCers first! what about classes that for a CC to a UC aren't even transferable like say math 101?

You should remember that where you take a class doesn't matter, and therefore whether it transfers doesn't matter. If you use it as a premed req., don't take it pass/fail.

Please don't take a premed requirement pass fail. If by "does not transfer" you mean "will not appear on my transcript", then you could be fine. But you would have to be really sure the med schools would not see it, and that you would take, for a grade, a math course after transferring. Grades count in med school admissions, and P/F just does not look good.

so i can take trig pass.no pass but calc def/must take for the grade?
