Criminal Justice Minors

Hi, I'm very new to this but decided that my mother's collage experiences would not suffice for taking those huge steps of my own. I want to major in Criminal Justice but I'm not sure what I want to minor in. My goal is to be in the Law Enforcement and Security part of the Navy and this degree will help me with that even though it doesn't require it. I've seen some of the other suggested minors but another question I have is 'Would it be worth it to get a minor?'

Ok, I've seen some pretty rude comments about people wanting to major in criminal justice saying 'You only want to be a cop like on tv' and 'You don't know what you're asking for'. I do know. So I'll have none of that. [-X

A minor most likely will not be a big plus in obtaining your career goals. Some people who work in Law Enforcement and Security have backgrounds in business, psychology, education or other field. Some don’t have degrees. You mentioned the Navy. Talk to a recruiter about your goals if you have not already. The military offers their own specialized training. Maybe pursuing college during or after a military career may suit you. I would explore all options.

Don’t forgot about reserve duty and ROTC options.
