University of Pittsburgh (Safety)
UMass Amherst (other Safety)

Boston Unversity-Good chance
George Washington-Good chance
Richmond University-Decent Chance
Emory-Reach/slight reach
U Michigan Ann Arbor-if you live in MI then yeah, otherwise reach
Vanderbilt-slight reach/reach

NYU-slight reach/reach
Northwestern-reach
Vassar-don't know
CMU-don't know
Middlebury-don't know
Amherst-don't know
Williams-don't know
Wesleyan-don't know
Wash U-Sea-in, St.Louis-reach
Pomona-don't know

Cornell-reach
Yale-big reach
UPenn-big reach

21 schools? how did you ... survive?

u have a lot of reaches... but vassar middlebury and williams are matches... cmu amherst wesleyan pomona are almost cornell level reaches

thanks njboy200 - way to go through the whole list (well minus a few). I pretty much agree with your suggestions...

i applied to so many because i would be happy going to BU or GW so i figured what the heck, i may as well just throw applications out there cause there's no harm in trying other than a major ego shot come april. Plus, i just found school that fit me then looked at their application to make sure I could recycle essays and what not.

oh yea, i don't live in MI. I live in PA.

cujoe - out of curiosity, what makes you think williams and middlebury are 'match' schools for me? I always viewed them as reaches, but it's interesting that you said match. Any comments?

to anyone - does having a cousin in Cornell's Hotel School, class of 2007, count as some degree of legacy?

I feel better that I am not the only person applying to way too many schools. I am transferring out of Community College though, so this is my final shot to go to a decent school. I am applying to 16 different colleges, but most of them (if not all) are reaches. As a last resort, I can transfer to San Francisco State for accounting.

Anyway, your stats are impressive for most of the schools to which you want to apply. I think that you should be accepted to at least half the schools to which you are applying, but I doubt that Yale or UPENN will accept you. Either way, Good luck.

out of curiosity, why did you quit cheerleading?

Here's the thing with cheerleading..

I made the varsity squad my junior year, but six weeks in i had enough. I couldn't handle the same chants and what not after doing cheerleading since 8th grade. Lol, it definately got to me

Williams and Amherst are difinitely reaches (ranked one and two of all LACs). Vassar would probably be a match, and Wesleyan a reachy match.

yea i retract my statement about williams... that's more of a reach/match, but about vassar and middlebury, ur pretty close to the medain, and if u show why u want to go it shouldn't be a problem

thanks cujoe and yamaya! pretty solid suggestions.

CC - what's your list of transfer schools?

Vassar only accepted 29% of their applicants last year. It is definitely not a match, particularly for a female. Wesleyan is also not a match; I know several kids with higher stats, great ECs who were rejected and deferred early from there. CMU--it depends on the college and your area of study. Northwestern, Michigan and Emory are also reaches. If you had applied early, it would have been a different story for those schools. GW and BU are where your matches start. Wash U is a tough one and a reach, as is Pomona. Vanderbilt straddles the match/reach line as it has become increasingly more selective just in the past 5 years. A lot of kids from S's class are applying there, and they tend to be the high stats kids.

I am trying to Private-message you, but I can't.

GW - that's cause i turned it off
by your sn it sounds like you applied to GW. Is that true?

jamimom., that is true, that some of those are reaches, but in terms of academics, if you fall into the median scores... hopefully higer than lower, and show u truly want to go there i.e. visiting, interviews, whatever... it could be a match school
