<p>do not use POP-CULTURE reference.</p>

<p>I know exactly 13 people who used pop-culture references
who all got under 2's (out of 12)</p>

<p>some of them are highly talented writers but didn't know this.
they used examples of movies (v for vendetta) or celebrities like Paris Hilton</p>

<p>Most SAT essay graders are most likely 'outsiders' who does not really care about pop-culture (actual fact that was given by a teacher of mine who worked at college-board)</p>

<p>i wrote about celebrities in the essay but i changed it last second XD</p>

<p>oh no! I used V for Vendetta. I wrote one paragraph about it, one paragraph about Rosa Parks, and one paragraph about a personal experience, so hopefully I won't do THAT poorly. =(</p>

<p>I also referred to V for Vendetta as both a graphic novel and a film.</p>
