hey,
im an international student and planning to do cs. i got accepted at ucsd in revelle.
my letter mentioned :undeclared" does that mean i did not get cs and would have to fulfil their requiremnets. also is revelle a good college for cs
https://cse.ucsd.edu/undergraduate/cse-capped-major-status indicates that CS is difficult to get into at UCSD if you enroll as undeclared. Do not recommend enrolling as undeclared trying to get into CS unless there is some other major you are willing to do that is not also competitive admission (the other competitive admission majors are listed at https://students.ucsd.edu/academics/advising/majors-minors/capped-majors.html ).
The UCSD residential colleges like Revelle mainly affect dorm assignments and general education requirements. Revelle has relatively heavy general education requirements. You can do any major in any of the colleges. See http://provost.ucsd.edu/colleges/compare.html .
I got into Wisconsin as well with major in cs given. I have to make a choice now. what do u think i should do?
Go for the direct admit.
If you want CS, go for the direct admit at UW. At UCSD, it’s very hard to change into CS (they only take a few each year and need like 4.0 GPA or something - criteria is on their website).
Thanks guys!
@sunnyschool to clarify, at UCSD a 3.3 in the screening courses enters you into the CS admissions lottery now, where your fate is randomly generated.
Oh OK! Thanks @DoctorP !
