I’m looking into a couple CSU’s with the plan of going into nursing as my major and I was wondering how competitive my eligibility index is.
I currently have a 4440 with a 4.0 GPA and 1240 on my SAT but I’m planning on raising it to a 1300. That would make it a goal of 4500 on my eligibility index.
What are my chances of getting into:
SDSU
CSU Fullerton
CSU Long Beach
CSU San Marcos
CSU Los Angeles
SJSU
For CSU Fullerton, the EI threshold was 4500+ for this year’s direct admit Nursing majors, so I would assume that SDSU’s EI is at least 4500 minimum or higher also. For CSUF, I think you can get into the University but not the Nursing program as a Freshman
CSUF/SDSU: Reach for Direct Admit
CSUF: Accept into an alternate major
CSULB: Match
CSUSM/CSULA: Match
SJSU: Match
You need at least a 4600 for CSUF now, assuming the eligibity index will continue to rise. It went from 4200 to 4550 in a year…
You can get into the school but you won’t make it into the program with your scores at the moment. I highly encourage you to look OOS for other direct admit schools. (I’m glad I did since I would’ve been in a rough place if I didn’t).
I don’t know the cut off for SDSU but I assume it will be nearly twice as competitve as CSUF in the upcoming years since it is so popular.
It has been a really rough year for prospective nursing applicants to CSUF. Many EXTREMELY qualified applicants were rejected, and as the above poster has stated, it only gets more competitive. I was one of the lucky few to receive admission this year. I have a CSU GPA of 4.04 and an SAT of 1320. I also have As in both Honors Chem and Honors Bio. One thing I have noticed is that CSUF really looks for students who excel in the math and science areas, so aim for a high math SAT!
