Our school gives out info when we get our schedule cards. We got a paper back book about our classes and college info. In the CSU GPA calculation it said they used your 10, 11th, and 12th grades. But then on CSUmentor it said 10 and 11. Do the 1st semester grades count in the cumulation and are sent in after our 1st semesters over? Cause I'mm be turning in apps in november or december.

Most CSU's use your 10th and 11th grade GPA I believe except for Cal Poly Slo, not sure about Pomona, who also uses 9th grade. SDSU did however want D to send mid year transcripts so they do look at 12th grade mid-term grades after she was acccepted. CSU Fullerton also wanted mid-term grades along with her acceptance of admission. Not sure if they ask for everyone or just some but D did have good grades and gpa so it wasn't a problem.

****, so senior year doesnt really matter in ur cumulative gpa? I wanted to get overall 2.7 or 2.8 but now I'll be stuck at a 2.5. Just my luck...

The admission letters we got to SDSU, Cal Poly SLO, CSULB and Fullerton all said that you must hsve no grade lower than a C. Daughter got C- in AP Calc for Fall semester and she called Cal Poly. They said she was ok as they don't count HS +/- but they would rescind with a semester D. Her friend got rescinded from Fullerton for a D in trig/pre-calc just last week but the HS counselor called Fullerton and they waived it if he kept his grade above a C for this semester.

For the Cal States you need to keep a "C" average. However, if you're interested in going to a UC you need to keep a "B" average for most of the UC's.

I applied to only Cal States and UC's and was never asked for a mid year report.

nschuchert-did you apply to San Diego because d was asked for mid-year transcript even though her stats were very good. She is in-state but out of their local service area. Just curious. Chico also asked but not the others.
Fullerton also wanted mid-term grades if you accept. Acttually, come to think of it, Chico invited d to join honors program after she sent mid-term grades.

I applied to Sonoma State and Cal Poly SLO. I got into both and wasn't asked for midyear reports.

Ok, today at school I went to my college and career center and looked at the oficial SDSU book and looked under the admission. It said that your overall gpa calculations involved 10th,11th, AND 12th. Chico was only 10 and 11 tho. I hope thats right, I need another semester.

Damn, I got really excited because I thought you were talking about Colorado State University, but you're not.
Grr.

Rep-Like I mentioned above, D was accepted before SDSU had Sr. grades however they did ask for Fall transcript. Cal Poly did not. If I remember right for the CSU's, D had to put in her senior year classes and planned classes so they probably want to check the grades and make sure a person actually took what they said on the app. So long as you you don't have D's your probably OK.

No, but in this book it said your 12th grade grades were computed into your overall GPA. I'll have to ask the school counselor about this because I'll have no shot at SDSU if I don't get that 1st semeseter in 12th grade.

REPP-D was accepted to SDSU around Feb. 5th. Her Fall semester ended Jan.
29th. SDSU did not have any of her senior grades when they admitted her.
This means they used her 10th and 11th grade gpa for admittance. You can check on the SDSU admissions (or prospective student website) to find out the information you need. There is also a gpa/sat and act calculator on the website that will convert your gpa and sat or act score to points. From there you can see if you are in the ballpark for admittance. Hope this helps.

Have you already applied or are you still a Junior? You can also go to the SDSU thread under "Colleges" and post your question. I'm sure that there are others that can help you out as well.

I highly doubt first semester grades in senior year are computed into the GPA. Some schools ask for midyear reports to make sure you're not completely checked out, but I've never heard of anything from senior year being calculated into the GPA they use to admit you.

Here is the link to the SDSU info. Go to the second page on the left inder CSU GPA.

2 other sites I found

With me researching, I see most CSUs only use 10 and 11 but SDSU uses 10,11, and 1st semester of 12.

Repp, I see what you are saying now and why you are confused. I actually have that pamphlet from the info session. There is no way SDSU uses 12th grade for admission but maybe they use 12th grade grades to withdraw admission, honors distinction or for financial aid/scholorship money. I don't know but I do know that we did not have to send in 1st semsester grades until after daughter was accepted to the school. It was told to us in her admission letter. We have 4 other friends that had to do the same. If I were you, I would call UCSD admissions office directly and ask them. They are very nice from the few dealing I have had with. I do know from our info session that SDSU had approx. 60,000 apps (adm rep said approx 12,000 of those were transfer students) for a little over 9,000 seats.

One more thing Repp, are you a junior or s senior this year? If so, try to do well on the SAT/ACT. You can use the point calculator on the SDSU web site to see if your in the ball park for admission. You can make up for a lower gpa with a good SAT/ACT. It is a little more difficult to get into SDSU if you are out of their San Diego service area.

Yes, I have researched SDSU a few months back and done the calculator elgibility. I got a 1150 onmy PSAT, 1780 overall. I'm hoping to get a 1250 on it when i take it in may, they take ur highest score right? If it is only till 1th grade, then my GPA for 10th and 11th grade would be a 2.5. I got to a hard school, 830 API score, 10 out of 10 VS other cali schools. Maybe they themselves with their computers take ur 1st semester senior grades wihtout asking and then ask them from you after to seee if you're lying? I don't know, with a 2.7 GPA and 1250 on SATs, I only have around a 3400 which makes me borderline, with a GPA of 2.5 i have no shot. :(

Never say never.....you never know.....try to get your gpa up as much as you can and study hard for the SAT. All you can do is try. You might try the ACT, some people do better on that and UC's and state schools will take your best score from either the SAT or ACT. Community college is a great way to transfer to a school you really want to attend but can't get into right out of high school. I know a lot of kids that have done that .

Would it be better for me to go a local CC or the community college by SDSU? I'll do the ACT senior year and I though u could only take the ACT once. Hopefully they do count 12th i'll see tomorrow.
