<p>Dorms are allright. Most are not equipped with A/C but they do have heaters. Not a problem for me, since Long Beach is pretty cool weather compared to my hometown. There are double rooms and few single rooms (for upperclassmen). They have something called a Residential Learning College, which is a community college one mile away from CSULB that they renovated into dorms for students. It’s more of an apartment-like experience I suppose.</p>
<p>Reputation - it has an amazing nursing program. It’s also very well known for fine/performing arts. Many arts majors are impacted. It’s the 2nd largest public school in California and also the cheapest CSU in the system, I believe.</p>
<p>The very immediate area around CSULB is pretty quiet - the suburbs. Not sure about internships, but CSULB students get access to an online forum sort of place where local employers and businesses post job/internship opportunities. There are quite a few. If you go a little bit away from CSULB, you get to places like Compton where it’s… a bit scary haha. But as long as you don’t go there it’s all good. It’s a nice neighborhood, not too far from Irvine/LA/etc.</p>

<p>Professors are great, in my opinion. They’re not really here for research like the UC professors are, and the bunch of them are very caring about the students, willing to engage in conversations with them, and actually teach the classes… of course there may be one in the bunch that aren’t as great, but that’s the same for all other colleges, no?</p>

<p>The nearest beach is 3 miles away. As for transportation, there is a bus that takes you to the beach 
and I believe you can use your CSULB student ID to get on the Long Beach buses for free. There are also metros and all that good stuff. The Long Beach airport is very close as well (planes touch down constantly).</p>

<p>^By 3 miles I’m assuming you mean Seal Beach. Most LB natives (myself included) will tell you: you can do better.</p>
<p>Bolsa Chica/Huntington (they’re right next to each other) are the local favorites. They’re 20 minutes away or so in heavy traffic. They also have fire pits that are excellent for having bonfires. I have no idea what time Seal Beach closes, but Bolsa Chica will let you stay until around 10:30 or so.</p>

<p>Well I heard that the desgn program has a study abroad program that counts for elective class and I heard it was awesome but I dont know about other majors and departments 
I dont think its very urban a bit city like no?
I really doubt CSU has a student government as well cause thats high school all over again then… :D</p>
<p>the city of long beach has a lot to do, the south bay area is near by too, LA/hollywood is a short drive on the 710 the OC is a short drive on the 405/91 , the weather is good it’s the middle of winter and I wearing a T-shirt and shorts right now, a lot of teachers come from CSULB in my area,it produces a lot of teachers.</p>
<p>their is also a ton of public transportation and CSULB has a deal with LB transit to offer free bus rides/cheap passes.</p>
