CSU transfer.. IGETC or CSU GE Breadth

I've been attending a community college now and trying to transfer to CSU.

I'm planning to fulfil IGETC, US history and american institution part for csu graduation, and the lower division classes for my major.

Do you think it is enough?

I am kind of confused because CSU GE Breadth requires little more GEs for the area of science, which is required 7 semester units for IGETC but 9 units for CSU GE breadth, and self-development, which is not required for IGETC.

Should I take CSU GE Breadth to transfer to CSU? or if I just complete IGETC, will I have to take that GE classes (one more science and self-development) after I transfer?

I don't want to take unnecessary courses.

If your only goal is going to a CSU then I would follow the csu-GE breadth. IGETC is mainly for UCs.

^Agreed.

There are other differences than the American Studies courses between IGETC and CSUGE.

You may think there are less units required for IGETC because the American Studies courses are not required, however a Language Other than English (LOTE) is required for IGETC, so to be IGETC certified you would need 2-3 quarters/semesters of that instead. CSUs accept IGETC for fulfilling lower-div GEs, but it is only suggested to do so if you are also applying to UCs since UCs do not accept CSUGE.
