Hi all,
I'm a rising sophomore who will be attending CTY Carlisle 2014 for first time in about a week. I was wondering how much free time is allotted to the students. At home, I exercise everyday for around 30-45 minutes and I really want to keep up that habit while I'm away. Is it possible to go out jogging in the morning before classes start around campus? Or is there some kind of strict students-must-stay-in-the-dorms rule? Are there periods of downtime between classes or a gym in the dorms? Any kind of insight is appreciated.
Thanks!

I never went to Carlisle but I’ve been to four other sites. Every single year, there is ALWAYS a morning run group that the RAs start sometime during the first week. In addition, there are plenty of athletic activities that you can sign up for to fill your evenings.

If you’re hardcore, you can buy resistance bands online and have them shipped to your room. I did P90X every single night at Berkeley this way. You just have to make sure that you can master the art of being a nightly ninja (create dim lighting, be super quiet, put tape over your peephole to hide light, cover cracks in the door with a towel, etc) and make sure that your roommate can sleep through your heavy breathing.

You’ll be fine.

D2 is there now. Don’t expect to go off on your own. They are pretty heavily scheduled and literally are not allowed to cross the street without a counselor. I think you can go to the gym during some of the scheduled free time activities. (Driving my almost 17 yo rising senior crazy but she likes the class she is taking)
