I am currently studying under GCE A level program and I want to study business management / finance / international business in university.
I have received an offer from University of Nottingham Ningbo, China, but truthfully I am now more interested to study in Hong Kong rather than Ningbo. I have applied for HKU, HKUST, CUHK and City University. But deep inside my heart, I always want to enter CUHK.
However my father does not allow me to enter CUHK, because he said Hong Kong is not suitable for me to study, except if I am accepted to HKU or HKUST.
He thought that CUHK is only specialized in Chinese Language and some of his friends even do not know that university. Although I have shown him the university ranking, he just cannot believe only in those ranking. So, I may need to hear some suggestions from you guys.
And I might also choose macquarie as my older sisters are studying in Sydney. But it might be more expensive and personally I prefer Asian countries.
So, is there anyone studying in CUHK or UNNC? I would like to ask the university reputation and some other questions. Please help me out, I am in a kind of emergency situation haha
Thank you guys.

I don’t study in CUHK but my best friend is doing quantitative finance over there. It is arguably one of the best universities in Asia and i really wouldn’t be worried about the reputation.

The thing that people find a bit weird is the name “Chinese University of Hong Kong”

Why your father thinks Hong Kong is not suitable for study i find a bit amusing. Chinese students outperform students from anywhere in the world. If i were you, i would chose CUHK in a heartbeat

@aphalleon thank you for your feedback! finally i received the conditional offer from cuhk. and it is a lil bit suprising. it requires 2A and 1B in a level exams so im a little bit worried too. thanks for your info! :D

I’m looking at CUHK for journalism. I’m a Chinese adoptee living in the United States applying as an international student.

Here are my stats:
GPA: 3.87-3.9something unweighted (somewhere around there)
SAT: 2040 CR 640 M 630 W 770
EC: Great ECs - president of a human rights club in my school, published in national news website, interned at online livestreaming network over the summer, and more.

Also, is there anything I should know about the admissions process? I can’t find much information.
