A commuter school is great if you're looking for 4 more years of high school.

I can't take it...there's absolutely nothing good about this school. I just don't know what to do this fall. I want to transfer already. This is like my 10th thread about this...can anyone tell me any ECs/awards/competitions/contests independent of a college? I don't even understand what an EC is. For example, where do I go? Am I supposed to hear about ECs, internships, awards, etc.? Where do I go to LOOK for ECs? I never did any in high school because I didn't know where to look.

I've made a thread about this before but it just doesn't sink in. I read it over and at first it was helpful but I feel hopeless. I feel like any advice couldn't mitigate going to a college I don't like at all for 2 years...

Clubs table and post flyers all over the building, especially at the beginning of the year with all the incoming freshmen. Internships? See the internship coordinator @ the career services office. Sports? See the athletic department. And so on.

^what about outside of campus? I mentioned that the school wasn’t good mainly to imply that it doesn’t have much to offer. Aren’t the most impressive ECs (and the ones typically most compatible to one’s interests) found outside of school, especially a commuter one from which you want to transfer?

My younger D is at CUNY Brooklyn (Macaulay Honors). She is transferring out (has been accepted to Smith and Mt. Holyoke), but not because of the academics. She wants to live on a campus.

If you are that unhappy, the SUNY’s have rolling admissions - apply to transfer to New Paltz or another SUNY and live on campus.

^I’m transferring for academic reasons as well. SUNYs don’t do it for me either; but school selection isn’t much of an issue. I just want to shoot higher.

… try idealist.org. I’ve found jobs and internships on there. I got to CUNY City and I don’t really do anything on campus.

CUNY sucks…am currently suffering at BMCC. Am transferring next semester.

To OP, I feel your pain, all I can tell you is wait it out next semester and transfer. Alot of the deadlines have past. For EC’s I recommend volunteering:
