Current happenings on campus and around Tuscaloosa

BB Comer is being renovated inside. Looking good!

Part of Bidgood is being refreshed.

Question the responsiveness of the UA? New sidewalks are being installed around campus, especially around the Engineering Complex where students have blazed there own trails in the grass…now concrete is going down to cover where students prefer to walk.

Milo’s is open beside Chickfila on Skyland Boulevard.

Baumhauwer’s is preparing to open a new location just off Skyland Boulevard and the bypass near the Hilton Garden Inn.

Several new townhomes, condominiums, and apartment complexes are now open or are in progress near campus and downtown. Check out South 10, Alpha, Kendall Korners, The Mount, Kyle Townhouse, Myers Flats, etc.

New hotels/motels are now open or are nearing completion…Springhill Suites by Marriott is nearly complete just off Greensboro Avenue and Skyland Boulevard behind Academy Sports. Embassy Suites on University Boulevard seems busy and very nice.

Legacy Park, the new shopping center across from Midtown Village on 15th Street, is making good headway. Some stores plan to open in August including Dicks Sporting Goods, Bed, Bath & Beyond, and Fresh Market. The Nike Store opened in Midtown Village with clothing specific to Tuscaloosa and UA.

The tallest slide in the southeast is a big hit at Snow Hinton Park. 38 feet of climbing fun for those who dare.

and Hungry Howies on the Strip has closed forever.

and the MDB has a new practice field complete with artificial turf. Looks great!

Uh oh…their own trails :frowning: oops.
And Chuy’s is supposed to be coming to Legacy Park as well.

I question whether BB&B will be open for August, Fresh markets is due to open in August but I believe that BB&B is not due to open till Sept/Oct.

The Baumhower’s off of Harper Lee is closing for remodeling, hence the new location off of Skyland.

However, if the new location does very well, then they may keep it and reopen the remodeled one.

Dick’s Sporting opened this past weekend. It makes for a very congested corner there at 15th/McFarland!
