Current happenings on campus

The President’s mansion is getting a facelift of sorts. The old sod has been completely removed and replaced by new sod.

The campus is buzzing with all types of camps and other activities including football, soccer, and other athletic camps, a summer intensive ballet program, UA Early College students, and the Honors Academy.

What’s left of Palmer Hall is being hauled away.

Bama Bounders and their parents are learning about campus and traditions.

The Strip is buzzing with visitors again.

I hope anyone who was in town for the Fourth of July caught the fireworks show over the Black Warrior River. Anyone visiting next year should visit the Amphitheater for a great night of music, fellowship, and fireworks. It was great to hear from Mayor Maddox and to witness a touching tribute to our veterans.

North Face rain jackets are 30% off at Woods and Water and Expeditions.

The Supe looks great! Book pickup is available at Tut for now while renovations continue at the Ferg.

Still waiting to see a crossarm on Edward Hillard, but still encouraged by what appears to be the footing for it.

Sarah Patterson announced her retirement as the Tide gymnastics coach. She will be missed.

The road in front of Ten Hoor has reopened to traffic.

Thanks for the updates. It is always nice to hear what is going on in T-Town when we are so far away.

Impressive update, bamagirls! Thank you.

Hi Bamagirls! Thanks for the updates.

Thanks! This makes us feel closer. I’m afraid to even share this with my daughter. I’m not ready to have her gone again but she is so ready to be back in T-Town and to see her friends.

Thanks! We’ll be on the road for move-in exactly (and ONLY) three weeks from today!

Palmer? I thought they were assigning rooms in it. Also, the Kappa Delta house is no longer there…construction continuing for footings, I’m guessing…construction continues on the Gamma Phi Beta house…supposedly the Alpha Chi Omega and Alpha Phi houses will be completed in time for sorority members to move in and recruit out of them. I did not get to the fraternity end of campus last Saturday.

Southlander, I bet you are thinking of Paty Hall.

FYI…anyone who plans on moving into the New Riverfront Village property may have reason for concern. It looks like it could be a repeat of the East Edge fiasco. There is a lot of work to be done.

And The Housing office has moved to Presidential Village.

I’ve signed at Riverfront Village, I picked a room in a building that was nearly complete. What was the East Edge fiasco? Should I be worried?

It was worse in person.

That’s awful, but I’m glad they offered to reimburse those who had to stay in hotels. I’m hoping Riverfront is done. I was concerned when I leased and asked if it would be ready in time and they assured me it would.
