That's the spirit!

from Synamtec:

viruses ever written for Windows: 36,000 and counting
viruses ever written for Mac OS: 68.

Enjoy.

number of buttons on a mac mouse: 1
number of buttons on a windows mouse: 2 +extras (scrolling wheel, etc.)

enjoy!

um... you do realize they make Mac mouses with two buttons and/or a scroll wheel right? Whereas I've yet to see a Windoze made without viruses.

does it come standard and is it mainstreamed? i've yet to get a virus on my windows because i'm not an idiot (and the free antivirus protection offered by AVG -- eveyrone should google and get it -- it's free!).

kthx,
mgmt

there are plenty of mac viruses, and very little protection
like this
<a href="http://it.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=05/05/08/2131208&tid=172&tid=179&tid=3%5B/url%5D">http://it.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=05/05/08/2131208&tid=172&tid=179&tid=3</a>
and I don't get viruses either, because most computer problems exist between keyboard and computer. (user error)

I dunno, this arguement that you shouldn't get windows because you get more viruses is like saying you shouldn't go to Philadelphia for college because you get mugged more...Cmon people! Just be smart and cautious about things, and you'll be fine either way.

The bottom line is though, macs are not compatible with everything, but windows are. If you wanna be all hip and cool and pay a little less, then sure get a iBook or Powerbook or whatever, but for all practical purposes, I think Windows machines are far more useful...I mean, just the sheer fact that you can't properly have i2hub on a Macintosh is reason enough not to get one ;)

I already responded:

Mac has less viruses not because it is more secure, but because those that want to make viruses want the largest target audience. Thus, they choose Windows. If Windows was truly less secure than Mac OS X, there would be devastating viruses daily.

The same logic was applied to FireFox: "Oh yea, it is totally more secure than Internet Explorer." One million downloads later, a huge exploit is found. It wasn't found previously not because the software was better, but because people didn't care.

Actually, Powerbooks are quite a bit more expensive than similarly-featured PC models.
