Current TROJANS taking questions

According to folks at the USC admitted students reception, you can generally get from one end of campus to the other in about 10 minutes. Some housing & things students do/attend are across the street from campus as well.

i was kind of looking forward to the big campus setting, but i guess i'll be missing that... ;_;

I would describe the student body as friendly, diverse, and involved... Snobbish and close-minded definitely does not come to mind... and arrogant? Maybe on game days cause our football team was dominant!

That description perfectly fits about 1 out of every 100 USC students. But you will get students like those in every university in America.

DON'T TRUST THAT STUDENTS-REVIEW SITE ONE BIT! It's really biased against us.

I personally think despite the fact that our campus is small, it does have a big-campus feel when walking around. This definitely is not an extension of high school.

Driving around USC, it certainly LOOKS like a big campus to us & has nothing remotely "HS" about it. I think a compact campus like USC has a lot of advantages over a more sprawling campus -- especially when you need to get from one spot on campus to another. <grin></grin>

Does anyone know how the size of USC compares to UCSanta Barbara? We were really struck by how sprawling the UCSB campus is -- some of the housing in particular is quite far away. You'd get your exercise at UCSB, but it wouldn't be very convenient if you lived in certain dorms and wanted to pop into your room during a free hour between classes.

We'll be at USC on Tuesday so we can judge it in person sizewise, as well...

It's best to see it all in person. Have a great time on campus!

USC is 235 acres, UC SB is 989 acres.

This is from us news and world report.

Oh wow, the other instate university i was thinking about was 3,500 acres.. O_O

Thanks so much for the acreage comparison, that definitely puts things in perspective for us!

Looking forward to our campus visit next week!

i did a summer program through USC and i was wondering how much that would help me when i apply to USC. would it REALLy help?

Any tips on where to get the best-priced USC logo items like shirts, sweatshirts, etc.? Steve & Barry's is great, but there are none in Hawaii (we did go to one in Buffalo, NY, but didn't know at that time we were likely to become part of the Trojan family).

mangogo: i think it would definitely help! i had a friend who did one over the summer, and he feels that it definitely helped him get admitted.

(however, doing a summer program, by no means, guarantees admission. it merely gives you a little bit of an edge)

HImom, when you come to campus for a visit program (like orientation or Explore USC) they give you 10% coupons for the bookstore. And the bookstore has clearance sales now and then, which are good times to stock up on "Trojan-wear".

I'm still waiting for the end-of-semester sale. Items then are discounted up to 75% off.

We never came to campus yet, but thanks for the tip. We'll try asking friends who are at USC if they could pick some end-of-semester stuff up for us. 75% off sounds like a good deal. Steve & Barry's is tough to beat, with everything at one low price like $6 or $10 or something, including hooded zippered sweatshirts.

oh yeah don't type trojanwear on google or you'll end up in trojan condom site. =_=;;

How would I go about getting a parking space at Parking Structure D? Also, where is EVK?

EVK is right next to New/North and Gate 3.

Check <a href="http://transnet.usc.edu/%5B/url%5D">http://transnet.usc.edu/</a>. All I know is that it is a first come first serve system and that permits are usually gone in a matter of minutes after release.
