one got to NC and no where else? everyone is getting pretty unruly around my house!

MidwestDadof3, I understand your pain. Fortunately, my daughter went to a movie tonight to try think about something else! All of these college applications on hold until she knows whether she qualified for NMSF…

Haha, it hasn’t touched my mind until I read this thread. Also, not worried about it. Florida’s score won’t make a huge leap. But for everyone stressed, I hope you get the good news soon!

Congrats to all that make it!

well, so far there’s 1 national merit semifinalist. we’d better get some letters tomorrow at my school!

in NY. 227

Georgia 219

I am confused. Did Georgia’s cut-off really go up 5 points? Because last year’s was 214.

People are posting their states and their scores. So all we know is that Georgia’s cut off is either 219 or below. As a 5 point jump is unlikely, I’d say below.

I would vote for, as the OP’s first post clarified, listing cut-off scores.

I don’t think that semifinalists are told the cut-off scores, are they? The closest we could get is finding the lowest score in a state someone had to qualify for NMSF, then see if someone with a point lower than that posts that they did not qualify. However, I do not think that NMSFs are told the cut-off scores when they are notified.

I guess I’m saying that information would be available from the GCs at school, or some other admin person. At my kids’ school, all one has to do is ask.

For what it’s worth, I called National Merit this morning and asked for the cut-off score for our state (New York). I was told NM would be releasing that information on September 15, but that packets had been sent to schools so individual students might find out sooner. I think your best bet is to check with your guidance office, particularly if your school is not yet in session.

givings, if you can get that info from your GC about your state’s cutoff, it would so great if you would post it. I can’t get anything from the GC or National Merit.

Per the CC tradition, so far (in alpha order):

GA<=219 (post 27)
NC<=218
NY<=227 (post 26)

Continued good luck to all.

Sure, I’ll post it when I get it. Kids’ school still hasn’t received their packet as of this morning, but I’ll check back with them Monday. We’re in Texas.

GA<=219 (post 27)
NC<=218
NY<=227 (post 26)
KS<=211

If you call and ask the NMSC, they will not tell you what your state’s score cuts are until after Sept 15 when they send out their press release. Doubt even the HS’s would know unless they can tell from two students’ scores that fall on either side of the cutoff. You’ll probably fiind it here first!

Someone got a packet in Kansas with 211?

Is there anyone in NY who qualified with less than 227? I’m hoping for a 219. Please post it…

And anyone in MN? I got 216…
